Need a Website for my tournament.
« on: September 05, 2008, 03:41:16 PM »
Hello all.

I am going to be taking over a local pub game soon and hopefully will build it up to be a proper tournament.

I want to build a website to advertise it and to track players results and stuff.

What I really wanted was a way so that I could posts the results and a few photos of the games, as well as update the league tables. Another cool feature would be so that a player could go on there, click on their name, and see their own personal results. I was wondering if anyone here who has a website for their league or home game would have any suggestions.

Here is my first attempt to try it out... I have some great ideas on how to do the next one that would be inline with what you are looking for:

Also, another poster here showed his which I was really impressed with, and I shamelessly borrowed ideas from... this would really be how you would want your's to look IMO... I can do most of it, but his is really well done (and time intensive):

whoa, his website changed!!! It looks like its going under renovations so keep watching his site, its got great stuff!

anyhow, if you got questions ask away  :D

We can create a website for you. Look at www.maineventpokerleague.com .. We can customize the look for you, but this is what the features will be..... click on Poker League Management at the top of the page for a list of what we offer.

I was thinking of something more along the lines of this....

http://www.qesign.com/templates/ready-casino-sites-gambling-website-templates-card-game-webpage-layouts.shtml

like a template that someone on here might use, but that is more suitable for poker leagues

I am working on a site that allows automatic uploading of data from TD.  www.shark-stats.co.uk - go to the demo link for an overview.

My main site is sussex-poker.co.uk if you want any help getting that look.

OK just as an update I thought I'd let you know how I got on.

After a bit of googleing I got a free template. It just displays the basic info from my tournament results, news, info etc but it's ok for now.

I also found a simple forum to embed into the pages. Admitidly, the forums look awful but when our league gets going properly I'll add a proper forum package using my web package.

Take a look if you like www.penzancepokerleague.co.uk

Skelly... I think the idea that you have is awsome. But the demo is confusing and doesn't seem user friendly. I'd love to use something like this though in the future.

Hi Skelly - your new site is exactly why I'm trawling through the TD boards today....
How's it going?

I've looked over the demo and I like what I see.

I've been over all the others (pokerDIY, statsgenie etc) and they are just not quite user friendly enough.
The one thing that's putting me off yours at the minute is the price (I know, I know every one wants everything for free...)
It just seems a little expensive for my needs - I only have 25-30 players.
Maybe you could offer different prices for different size databases?

Just a thought - I'll be keeping my eye on this one

Richie

OK, for the mean time I have created a simple spreadsheet in Excel 2007.

It takes the results on one page and spits the results out in a presentable way on another sheet. You select a name from a drop down list at the top and the stats, results etc gets displayed underneath. I guess I could then put charts and graphs which would update automaticaly. I just need to put the results in on the original page.

Does anyone know how to transfer this as HTML to embed into my website?

EDIT: I know how to transform a normal excel sheet to HTML, but I need the drop-down box to work, plus I have a few VLOOKUP commands.

Hi guys,

Sorry for the late reply I have been a little busy with the project. With the monthly price set at $20 this could come down to 10-15 based on the feedback I have gotten.

Over the next few days the demo will be finished and the feeback will begin again.
