Can't get TD2 to run
« on: November 08, 2007, 04:54:32 PM »
Hello.  Just downloaded the program and purchased my license key after a friend of mine told me about this program.  However, I am not being able to run TD2.  For starters, once opened, a popup says:

Name:  Error
Number:  10-429
Description:  Automation server can't create object
Message:  Automation server can't create object

I click ok then this pops up:

Unable to load message catalog for "en-us" (catalgo folder not found)

I click ok again and then this pops up:

The default language catalogs (en-us) could not be loaded.  Sorry, can not continue.

Click ok again and a familiar message pops up (the first one):

Name:  Error
Number:  10-429
Description:  Automation server can't create object
Message:  Automation server can't create object

Then the window closes and dissappears.  Please help.  Thanks!

P.S.  Based off another thread,  I reinstalled Windows Script  but it didn't fix the problem.

The problem is Internet Explorer cannot access a scripting object that is used to access your filesystem.  This usually caused by problems with Windows Script, which is why reinstalling Windows Script typically fixes the issue.

If this doesn't fix it for you, I can only think of 2 other suggestions:

1 - Re-install Internet Explorer.  This might straighten out the problem.

2 - Something else is blocking access to the scripting object, such as anti-virus (or anti-spyware) software you have installed.  Try disabling any of those you have running and then running the TD again.

That's all I've got, sorry.  Again, something is either blocking access to the scripting object, or there's a problem with the scripting engine.

You can try one of these, don't know how much help they may be:

Again I would suggest reinstalling Windows Script.  It really does fix this 99% of the time.  Unfortunately, I cannot find a stand-alone way to reinstall Windows Script on Vista.  As far as I know, Microsoft simply hasn't provided this yet.  Here are links for other versions of Windows:

Windows XP:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=47809025-d896-482e-a0d6-524e7e844d81&DisplayLang=en

Windows 2000:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=C03D3E49-B40E-4CA1-A0C7-CC135EC4D2BE&displaylang=en

Windows Server 2003:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=887fce82-e3f5-4289-a5e3-6cbb818623aa&DisplayLang=en

I suppose you could try installing with one of those, but I suspect the installer would not allow you to do so if you are not using the version of Windows for which it is intended.

That leaves reinstalling Internet Explorer.  I believe this includes Windows Script, but I am not 100% certain.
