Help Me / Re: Compatability with PDA's
« on: July 27, 2008, 01:31:27 AM »
I would probably commit a small felony to get this feature. Being able to manage table moves, pause/unpause, bust outs from a PDA over a wireless network would be sweet.

How do I get this display? I've looked all over the "layouts" tab and the "tables" tab and I can't seem to find it.

I would use this feature if it were added.

Yeah, I personally do not mind moving more players if it means they get to sit at a better table. Maybe some people have multiple tables of the same quality, but I have a really nice table, then my dining room table, and the others are "temporary" tables that are neither large nor really comfortable, so I want the players off of them as soon as possible and up to the nicer tables.

Thanks very much for doing this. Awaiting the update! :D

Yep, that's what I meant. Currently if I have Final Table (1), table 2, and table 3... when I have enough players for 2 tables I want table 3 to be collapsed, but if table 2 loses more people then the remaining table 2 players get assigned to table 3 and 1. Instead, I'd like to have some sort of sorting option where I can designate that I want table 3 to be collapsed first (and etc for more tables).

Suggestions / Suggestion - table collapse

Hi Corey,

Still loving this software, especially the 2.2 updates and bug fixes. My suggestion is minor and I think it would have global appeal. When the tables are unbalanced and a table is unseated and moved, could you make it either an option or default to collapse the last table in the list, moving players up and up until the final table? Two weeks ago I was running on 4 tables, the 4th being one that I threw together at the last minute with plastic chairs and whatnot, and an elimination collapsed my nice dining room table and moved players to the other tables, when this 4th table is the one I wanted to go.

Of course I know that I can always decline the seat adjustment, unseat the table manually, and re-suggest seating.

This is a testament to how awesome this program is that I have to suggest something so minor. :P

General Discussion / Re: LOVE THIS!!

I have been using this program for almost a year now. I am VERY thrilled with it, and I'm even more thrilled with the 2.2 updates. I only wish I had noticed there was an update sooner so I wouldn't have had to run with 2.1 tonight. That "Undo movement" option would have come in handy 2 weeks ago when I accidentally accepted the auto-table change and collapsed the wrong table.

General Discussion / Re: Rebuy's
« on: September 02, 2006, 01:55:19 AM »
We also run No rebuys, No Add-ons. We used to do one of each. The problem is that we got a lot of people who went all-in at bad times to try and get more chips in a rebuy and it was annoying those who didn't rebuy. So we changed our tournament from $10 buy in to $15 and eliminated rebuys/add-ons to keep the pot relatively the same.

Help Me / Re: Seating randomization
« on: July 21, 2006, 03:20:12 AM »
I figured it was something like that. But I thought it could maybe be possible that you're seeding the random number generator with something wrong. I don't know, but I figured it was worth a shot.

However, I will run your experiment and show my players that it IS random. Thanks for the input, seriously.

Just for argument's sake, is it at all possible that the randomness could be affected by the fact that I load a master file each time I start? I have a write-protected "default" file which contains a blank tournament with no prizes, no players, but all my buy-in settings and formulas. I load this file each time, then do a Save As... with the current date. Is it at all possible for this to affect it?

Yes, I know I'm reaching, but I try my hardest to run a very fair game for everyone and I'm a bit offended at the suggestion that I am somehow causing this alleged imbalance.

Help Me / Seating randomization
« on: July 20, 2006, 06:52:47 PM »
Hi Corey,

I have been using Tournament Director for something like 7 months and I just received an email from one of my regulars that concerns me. Basically the gist of it is that she feels the seating randomization from week to week isn't very random. She says: "Because many have noticed that allot of the same individuals seem to sit together. There is no way the computer can keep selecting these same players to sit together, over and over again, no matter which table they play at. "

Is there any merit to these concerns? I always lock myself in a seat at table 1 that allows me to have a convenient place to both plug in and place my laptop without being in other players' way, but other than that I just press the "suggest seating" button and take what it gives me. I will admit that it seemed for 3-4 weeks in a row it placed my players named "Chris", "Christine", and "Cris" together, but that doesn't seem to happen anymore.

Just for reference, I run a game each week on Friday with anywhere from 13-22 players. I run 2 tables unless we surpass 18 players. Most of my players are regulars. Unfortunately, there is no log saved of seating assignments for me to provide any sort of analysis of.

Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me.

-Christine

Help Me / Re: Adding points from previous games?
« on: April 21, 2006, 10:34:59 PM »
Personally, I created my "blank" tournament with my rounds, layout, payouts, and main game settings like buyin/formulas. I add NO players to this game. Then I save this as "Friday Game Default.tdt" and just to make sure I don't mess this file up, I set it to Read-Only in Windows.

Then, when it's time for my next game, I load this "default" tournament and do a "Save As". Then I call it something like 20060412.tdt which allows the games to sort by date. When I have special games I put an identifier in front of it like PEC_20060421.tdt.

Help Me / Re: Bounties
« on: April 21, 2006, 10:29:08 PM »
I'm confused -- this may not be the best thread to do this in, but I am trying to figure out how these bounties work. For my tournament, we have an optional $1 buy-in and whoever takes out the last week's winner wins that pot. If you do 1 chip per player, wouldn't the winner always end up with all the chips in the end??

I think I did import my 1.3.x layout. I changed it to <currenttables>. Thanks. :)

Suggestions / Bug report - table counts in main layout
« on: April 08, 2006, 04:11:16 AM »
I am currently running my weekly tournament and I am down to my heads-up players. However, the "Tables" display on my layout says 1 x 1 instead of 2 x 1. I had another problem with 8 or 9 players each at 2 tables but I will have to try and recreate it and give you specifics. (As I said, as I type this I have two players battling for the prize so I can't fiddle with anything at the moment) :P

Suggestions / Re: Seat players before buy-in?
« on: April 08, 2006, 04:08:35 AM »
I really need this as well. I very often have a couple players arriving late and they get assigned seats and are blinded down and auto-folded until they arrive. I would rather be able to seat them without checking off that they paid so I don't forget to collect their buy-in. Thanks for considering this.
