Calculate chips
« on: June 24, 2009, 05:55:51 AM »
Hello,

I'm new here but I have an idea about an add-on on tournament director.

For the moment, you can only put in tournament director chips color, value, and count. Tournament Director will calculate itself the total amount of money in a stack.

Why not add the possibility to calculate stacks ?

For example, I put in datas: 5 colors, 30 chips max for each colors, I want a total amount of 1500 and I give chips values; the soft answer me something like: 10x5, 6x25, 5x100,4x200

I'm not sure I explain properly, sorry about that, i'm french ^^

I tried all over the net this possibility (you know, each guy didn't have the same poker suitcase), and I didn't find it :(

I, too, would like to see a feature where TD suggests starting stacks and calculates chips needed for color-up. In the overall scheme of things I would think this would be a "low priority but nice" feature. Meanwhile, ChipTalk.net has a decent chip calculator under Site Tools on the home page.
If it ain't naked, deep-fried or poker-related, I ain't interested!

Are you after something like this?

http://www.homepokertourney.com/poker-chip-calculator.htm

My only problem with that chip calculator is that you have to manually figure out how many chips to give each person. You can do that exact thing in TD2, but what I think he means is automated chip distribution. When you buyin 5 players and the chips per player start at $2000, TD2 should automatically decide how the chips should be distributed to the players. This would make things way easier.

But this is always a preference thing.

We had tournament with $2000 chips as did a competitor.

They used
$1000 x 1
$500 x1
$100 x 4
$25 x 4

We used
$500 x 2
$100 x 8
$25 x 8

TD2 wont know which I prefer.  I really hate sitting at a game and having to ask for change ever 2 hands.

So while TD2 may suggest breakdown it will always be unable to please all.

Based on the total chips of each color the tournament director has, it could divy them up starting with the lowest value chips :)

We have enough chips to cover 150 players with the above mentioned stacks at each venue.

Therefore if we get 30 players it would tell us to use:

$25 x 40
$100 x 10

I guess change wont be an issue. :)
