Suggestions / Shared DB
« on: February 24, 2010, 10:05:10 PM »
Hello Corey!

Any chance we might see this wonderful tool working with a shared DB, as in multiple buy-in cashiers adding players to the same tournament, sharing the same tables and so on?  ;D

Thanks,

DC

Suggestions / Re: Multi-terminal buy-in stands... possible?
« on: February 10, 2009, 08:17:35 AM »
Hi Corey,

I understand your position. Nevetheless, it would be great if you could think about it from time to time =) maybe one day you'll think of a revolutionary solution to this issue.

Now, to another subject. You have recently added an option to include salesperson information when byuing a player in. However, I have not found a way to include the salesperson information when exporting player data (using the "IMPORT/EXPORT" button on the Players tab) or to simply display it on that page. It has the usable token that allows me to print the information on the receipt but, other than that, I can't seem to use that information for my tournament's finacial record.

Please take a minute to llok into it, and to the payment method selection I talked about on the previous post.

Thanks,
DC

Forgot to Add,

In the chop prizes options, It would be nice to have an option to leave part of the prize aside. For example, there are $50K yet to be distributed among the 3 finalists. They decide to chipcount-chop 40K and play for 10K for the champion.

Suggestions / Multi-terminal buy-in stands... possible?
« on: January 27, 2009, 12:29:03 PM »
Hi Corey,

It's been a while since I've written here. The reason I've been away is mainly because your software works way too well.
Now I'm writing again because through the end of 2008, my tournaments got big to the point where it isn't practical anymore to have only one computer handling buy-ins.
The ideal solution would be two or more people in different computers, sharing a database information (which players are buying-in) and sharing tournament information (how many players and which seats are occupied).

I know you already said once that this was unlikely to happen, but, you also said that multi monitor support was a distant dream =)

One other nice thing to be added is a "Method of Payment" field on the buy-in box. If you could preselect which methods are available on the preferences section (like credit card, cash, check or online satellite for example) and then, on the buy-in dialog box select from a pull down menu, it would just be AWESOME! It would provide me with a instant report of the financial income of the tourney.

Thanks again
Best regards,

Hello,

I tried to import a csv file with player that won online satellites to the software, as I used to do in earlier versions, but it kept giving me the following error message:

Help Me / Resetting the Database
« on: March 26, 2008, 07:19:53 PM »
Hello Corey,

First of all, I've just downloaded the latest updated version and the improvements are astonishing! Amazing work with the multi-screen feature.

My question is if it is possible to reset the database of players.

Also, could you implement on a future release the option to select a payment method on the buyin dialog?

Thanks and nice job!

Help Me / Importing data fr the Tournm.
« on: February 14, 2008, 03:38:54 PM »
Hello Corey,

My tournaments are getting bigger every time and I'm getting to the point where one single computer imputing data to the tourney database isn't quite enough, and the register line is getting pretty big and unproductive.
Is there a way to import the following data from a file into a tournament:

Name
Has Bought-in
Paid in Full
Table/Seat

So that I can merge the data from two computers acting as buy-in terminals into a single tournament file.

Thanks,
D.C.

Suggestions / Re: Receipts
« on: September 20, 2007, 04:23:27 PM »
Hello Corey and everyone else.

I've been thinking about this a bit and think this is what I will do:

  • Add an option to the Players tab to Randomly seat players as they buy-in
  • If this option is checked, when a player buys-in they will be randomly seated at any available seat defined on the Tables tab; the seating algorithm is completely ignored at this point - just randomness is used
  • If no seat is available at buy-in, a dialog will be presented to ask whether or not the player(s) should be bought-in and left unseated (this gives you the option to abort the buy-in process and edit your Tables first)

Thoughts?

Awesome! I think this is a great idea. Nice way of implementing. On another though, I think that when the seating capacity is reached a dialog could pop up and advise you to add more tables.

Another suggestions to have a way selecting the method of payment on the receipt. Since you have the "salesperson" field I don't think it would be too hard. The thing I'm looking for is that I need to have a financial report (for my own control) of my tournament. I need to know how many people pated by credit card, in cash and in check. Is it possible?

Actually I'm using an Excel spreadsheet along with TD to control this, but again it consumes a lot of time during the buyin process to fill two separate softwares.

Say you set up 3 10-person tables.  You then buy people in and get 18 entrants.  So, right off the bat you are going to want to collapse to 2 full tables and seating will change from what you assigned people.

Tandemrx, in my tournaments we have a nice staff to help me run things. But it wouldn't be much of a problem if I have to collapse a table before starting. After all, as soon as all buy-ins are finished I can glance at the seating chart to see how things are and direct my staff to relocate the players at once. Also it would take a lot less time than having 150+ players staring at a scrolling table diagram screen looking for their names.

Thanks  for the help and I hope to help you improve this great software.

Suggestions / Receipts
« on: September 18, 2007, 03:09:16 PM »
Hello Corey and everybody.

I run two regular monthly tournaments and one of them has averaged 150 to 170 players. It has become unpractical to have all the 150+ players to stop on the screen projection, search for their names on the table diagram and then go out looking where table 13 is. Also, to designate a seat on the moment they buyin also makes the process way too long. Adding a player, buying in and then seating him.

I was wondering if there's any way we could work out a solution for something like they do in Vegas and the WSOP. Almost every casino in Vegas use the QueueOS tournament system that prints this receipt:

Look how much information there is and most importantly: Table and seat #.

I know there's the problem of the software not knowing how many people/tables there will be before hand, but I'm willing to work with you, Corey, and find a solution. I think with the addition of a professional receipt system (and if ever possible the multi-screen feature) your software will be nothing short of perfect.

On a side-note, people on the 2+2 forum all consider the QueueOS system to be really simple, in their words, a piece of sh**, and they all recommend TD, as I do.

Hope we can work it out.

Best regards,

DC

Help Me / Re: Suggestions for a Multi-day tourney.
« on: January 26, 2007, 10:55:44 AM »
Hi korinkinchen,

Thanks for the idea! After careful consideration, I think that mixing my third idea with your spreadsheet solution, for redundancy, will have a safe and functional result in the tourney.
It will be a quite nice tourney on a cruise ship on the Brazilian coast during February.
Prize pool should exceed US$ 300K!

I'll  tell you guys how it went on.

Best regards,

General Discussion / Re: 50 chip and 500 chip simular color
« on: December 15, 2006, 01:28:40 PM »
Another suggestion would be to make one of those colors of a higher chip value, for example $10K or $25K, that you would only put in play when the $50 chips have already been raced out.

Help Me / Suggestions for a Multi-day tourney.
« on: December 15, 2006, 12:48:10 PM »
Hello folks,

I'll be using TD on a multi-day tournament in a few weeks and I want your help to discuss what you think is the best way to manage the game.
Like WSOP I'll have many more players than the local poker room can accommodate, and so, I have to do a day 1A, day 1B, 1C, day 2...  style of tourney.
Every starting day will have about 300 players.

Here are my thoughts:

1 - I could create a single tournament, and as one day ends, I can go back some blind levels and buy-in new players.
2 - I could create 4 tournaments. 1 for each starting day and 1 for when I put all the remaining players together.
3 - I could again create 4 tourneys, 1 for each starting day, and another one with all the 900+ players, and when day 2 starts bust out all the guys that are indeed already gone.

Problems:

Idea 1 gives me the problem of having unreal average stacks and players remaining for players starting on the second or third day.
Idea 2 fixes that, but when I join all the players on the final tourney I`ll have to manually adjust stacks and add money to the prize pool.

What do you think?

Give me your thoughts

best Regards
D.C.

Suggestions / Yet another export... :)
« on: December 05, 2006, 01:26:25 PM »
Hello all,

This is my first time writing here.

First let me say that his is a wonderful software.

I have a simple export feature request.

I run the two pioneer poker tournaments in Brazil and they have been growing in popularity (as any other poker thing around the globe). It would be really cool if I could, at the time I close the buy-in period, export a list of all players that have bought in, alphabetically and by table placing, so that my floor personnel could control everything easily.

Best regards,

D.C.
