Template Gallery
« on: June 20, 2007, 03:53:55 PM »
Based on comments from TenPercenter and Bojan1983, I am not the only one that would love to see a gallery of TD user templates.  Hopefully this thread will start the ball rolling.  Please post your layout and any ideas and designs that you would like to share.  It is obvious that many of the TD users are talented by looking at their layouts.  This thread could help the rest of us catch up and learn from past mistakes of others.  Please save your template file (so users can download them) along with a jpeg file so you can see it in the forum.  Thanks!!!

If there's enough interest, I'll be happy to host these on the main website.

??? ???  Wow.......kind of disappointed that no one attempted to share their templates.  I guess the users want to keep their graphics unique.  I really thought this would take off, especially with all the scattered discusions about this topic.   ???  ???

Heh... I'm not sure how you would want it put up here and its not that impressive, but functional... But I am dying to take a look at how CasinoCalgary has his template... I'm just too busy to get out there and play a tourny

Maybe Corey can shed more light on this topic, but here is what I did:

Open TD and load one of your tournaments (click on Load in the Games tab).  Press F2 or click on the Tournament box to open the tournament page.  Press the number “1” to go to the main page (just in case you have a pre-tournament screen).  Press the “Print Scrn” button on your keyboard.  Open Paint and click on Edit…Paste…File…Save As…name your file…hit the drop down box beside of “Save as type” and select JPEG…change the location (save in) to your desktop.

Come back to this forum and click on “Additional Options” below the text box and “Browse” to the desktop (or other location) where you saved your JPEG template.

You can also post your template file or wait to see if someone wants a copy by clicking on “Additional Options” again and browsing to c:\program files\the tournament director 2\templates\YourTemplateName.tlo  OR  c:\program files\the tournament director 2\saves\YourSavedTournament.tdt.

Most people with high quality graphic heavy templates know how to do this stuff.  Hopefully this will help the ones that don’t.

That'll be a good idea Corey, once enough get posted.  At a point, this thread will get diluted with discussion (perfectly fine), so it'll be hard for guests to see all the layouts in opne place.

The ChipTalk.net Tournament Director Template:

** Discussion underway here: http://thetournamentdirector.net/forums/index.php?topic=744.0

(I am still tweaking, and I'd like to get some feedback on it before posting the final.  I'll update this post with the files once it's Gold.)

FYI, I've implemented an export feature for the layout for the next version.  This will export your layout (.tlo file) and all images that your layout utilizes to a ZIP file, to make it easy to relocate (read: share) your layouts.  You can optionally include sound template and sound files, and chips layout and chips image files.  Hope to release later this week.

Corey..
Would there be a way to include an external file in this zip?  Such as a Photoshop PSD file of the multi-layered layout?
This would allow me to share the layout in a way to have others just open up Photoshop, and modify logos, colors, etc to their liking, while still maintaining the over-all look and layout.

(I guess this is only a request from me, since I use a full-screen background image to create the divisions in color and design for the layout... which allows me to keep all the Cells/borders transparent).

if everyone else just colorizes their cell colors and borders... then i guess the PSD wouldn't be a needed option...

It might be as easy as me just copy/pasting the PSD into "SomeFolderName", which would then by default be included in your Zip...

I'm not exactly sure what you are asking.  But you can always add files to a ZIP archive at any time, using WinZip or similar utility, or just the built-in ZIP support in Windows (XP).

All TD filetypes should be allowed: tdt, tlo, trt, tpt, tst, tch, ttb, trl

I've added .pic files, if that's really what you needed...

I hope you will, cause this topic is becoming more of discussion, not a gallery...  I am still using slightly edited default template which u must admit looks cheap...
