Suggestions / Re: Tournament Director Wizard
« on: January 29, 2007, 08:32:23 AM »
I think a wizard is a great idea.

Not just for new users, but more experienced users could use it to set up a quick tournament, or to do the basics on a tournament, which they could then edit for the final adjustments.

Not sure how much work it would involve, but I could see it being a big selling point.  I was put off initially using TD because it does "look" complicated at first glance.

Beta Testing / I think I found a bug?

Corey

Not sure whether I have found a bug or not?

I set up a  tournament with 3 tables of 10 seats each.
On the night only 11 people turned up, so in the tables tab I right clicked on table 2 and 3 and deleted them, then I right clicked on table 1 and changed the number of seats to 11.  Everything looked ok.  I bought the players in and seated them.  The tables tab and the seating chart showed 1 table of 11 players.

However when I started the tournament myTournament page main screen has a "tables" cell (Tables<br><tables>) and instead of showing 11x1 tables it showed 6x1 and 5x1.  Once the first player busted out it changed to 10x1.

Is this a bug, or did I miss somthing when I changed the number and size of tables from 10x3tables to 11x1table?

Thanks
Phil

Thanks for that suggestion Moose.
I will add the names etc, then do a save at the start, then tick the autosave feature.

Help Me / Re: About Tournaments

Thanks Corey

Having played a few tournaments with the TD and finalised my favourite templates I can now move onto the next level of starting to record player statistics.

Every time I think I have this programme sorted, I read something in the help or on the forum and a whole new aspect opens up to me.  There is something new, or a (previously) unknown function round every corner.

Bloody Brilliant.

Help Me / About Tournaments
« on: January 24, 2007, 04:19:49 PM »
Hi All,
A question.

I have been using the TD for a while now.  I have tweaked all the setups and layouts, I have added my preferred rounds and chip set and I have just lately added all my mates to the database.  However I have saved the tournament with no players added so that it is basically a tournament template.  On tournament nights I add the players, buy them in and seat them.  Then we play the tournament and at the end after everyone has gone, I quit the tournament without saving, to preserve my tournament template.

So my question is; should I be doing a "save as" at the end of the tournament? (maybe with the date as the file name).  Is it each individual saved, finished, tournament that provides the "stats" for access at a later date, and a final tournament "summary"?

In my save tournaments folder I would then have:
Phil's Tournament (the basic template to start each tournament with)
Phil's Tournament finished 1st January
Phil's Tournament finished 8th January
Phil's Tournament finished 15th January
etc, etc

Is this how you build up tournament statistics and person data?

Thanks

Version 2.2.2

This is very trivial, but I sense you are a perfectionist and would want to know (if this hasn't been pointed out already),
when you hit "exit" from the game tab the dialogue box says "Are you sure you want quit?"
The word "to" is missing between want and quit.

After much deliberation I upgraded from the free version to the latest pay version a few months ago, mainly for the built in chip calculator.  Since then I have never regretted the very small fee.  In fact I love playing with the Director nearly as much as playing poker!  Tweaking the setup and learning new features is a constant source of amusement (I know, I need to get out more).  Thanks for all your efforts, I hope you have got the financial reccognition you deserve for all this work.

Templates, Layouts and Sounds / Re: How do I set up my initial lay-out?
« on: January 22, 2007, 09:13:51 AM »
I have spent hours playing with the layout of my main screen.
I am constantly finding ways of improving it or tinkering with it.

For what its worth I have attached it (I hope).

It is based on one of the included ones and it contains everything I need, as well as everything the players need (their bits nice and big).
