Templates, Layouts and Sounds / Re: Event Help
« on: October 07, 2017, 02:54:09 PM »
So after playing around a bit, I realized I had to click on each sound clip again and browse to the location of the sound clip, like I did with the background pictures. The 6 events listed in the original post still show false, however, I just ran a quick sample tourney and the sounds played. So I guess all is good? :)

Templates, Layouts and Sounds / Event Help
« on: October 07, 2017, 02:36:52 PM »
After uploading all my TD files to my new computer and trying to load one of my tournaments, I've had a few issues. Some are minor and an easy fix, like I had to go back into layouts and re-add all the background images for some reason. But when I ran a sample tourney, I found out that all my sounds aren't playing properly. When looking through all my events, 6 of my events are showing up as false, and since I created these templates a few years ago, I'm having a hard time deciphering what isn't correct/I need to fix. Below are the false events. If anyone has any advice, it would be greatly appreciated!

Pre-tourney Countdown
Trigger: The clock ticks
Conditions: (state = 1) and (secondsleft = 45)

Shuffle up and deal after break
Trigger: a level starts
Conditions: (state = 2) and (isRound) and ((roundNum = 5) or (roundNum = 10) or (roundNum = 15))

Blinds increase in 2 mins
Trigger: clock ticks
Conditions: (state = 2) and (isRound) and (secondsleft = 120)

Blinds increase
Trigger: A level starts
Conditions: (state = 2) and (isRound) and (secondsleft = 120)

Short Break
Trigger: A level starts
Conditions: (state = 2) and (!isRound)

About to re-commence
Trigger: Clock ticks
Conditions: (state = 2) and (!isRound) and (secondsleft = 60)

Thanks for the response Corey. Was just checking incase I was missing something, as it is I'm sure there are many things I'm not currently taking advantage of with this program. Better safe than sorry.  :)

Help Me / Is this possible
« on: September 23, 2013, 05:40:44 PM »
Just playing around in TD and was wondering if there was a way to make this happen (cause I can't seem to figure it out). Normally for my tourneys at when the tourney is over (end of tourney screen) I have player rankings for that tourney. For a heads-up match, is it possible to to set a condition so that if player A wins, then it shows his picture as the background image on the end of tourney screen and if player B wins it shows his background image? Hope the question makes sense, just thought it would be cool for the final match of a heads up tourney.

Help Me / Re: League formula help please.
« on: January 25, 2013, 12:06:08 PM »
The formula we use for our league is below. It satisfies 1,2, and 4 of your criteria:

10*(SQRT(Number of Players/Finishing Place)) – (Number of Rebuys) or in TD form 10*(SQRT(n/r))-(nr)

What I llike about this formula is that if a player that beats say half the field in a 10 player tourney and another player beats half the field in a 20 player tourney they would net the same amount of points (14.14 points). However, it does award more points for the higher placed finishers and the larger the field the more points the winners get as the larger the field the more difficult it is to win. So first place in a 10 man tourney nets 31.62 points and first place in a 20 man tourney nets 44.72 points.

However, if you want to take into account the buy-ins (number 3 on your list), Dr. Neau's formula could be another option.

Tournament Points = (SQRT((a * b) * (b / c)) / (d + 1.0))
where
a = Number of Players
b = Buy-in Amount
c = Total Expense (Buy-in + Re-buy)
d = Player Finish

As for number 5 on your list I will let one of the pro's help you out there. I'm sure there is a basic formula addition that could be added to most formulas to account for that. Hope this helps.

Help Me / Re: Seating Charts and Player Movements

Thanks Stuart, I appreciate the help. I plan on using the next big blind...it does seem the simplest and most fair; and then a redraw for the final table (most likely handled by TD3)

Just out of curiosity as you mentioned that you have ran tournaments with 300 tables (I have played in larger tournaments at the casino but have never hosted anything like that or paid that close of attention) how do you select which table a player is moved from to fill a table when there are so many tables to choose from? For example, 300 tables and in the first round 2 players are knocked out of the tournament on table 167. I can think of a handful of options, just not sure if there was a standard.

Thanks again.

Hi,

1) Preferences Tab > Name Format > Select Which Way you wish it to display.

Thanks, I knew it was simple I just couldn't remember. I don't actually remember ever having switched it it just first name.

As for (2.) that is a good idea. I was or should say I am in a debate about that. The 3 ideas that come to mind is letting TD3 handle it, but as you said the dealer button has to be correct. Or using the next big blind and the table with more players as you mentioned, or lastly, find the player at the larger table that corresponds to the seat that was knocked out at the smaller table in relation to the dealer. So if the a player is knocked out 4 spots to the left of the dealer, then the player 4 spots to the left of the dealer at the larger table switches to the appropriate spot of the smaller table.

The 2 options not involving td3 are pretty simple, especially considering I am only talking about 2 tables. When combing to 1 table though, would you recommend a complete seat re-draw or just draw cards for the remaining spots of the feature table?

Thanks

Help Me / Seating Charts and Player Movements
« on: January 02, 2013, 01:22:43 PM »
I'm going to be hosting my first multi-table tourney (2 tables) as oppose to my normal 1 table and have a few questions.

1. (I'm guessing this one is simple but can't seem to figure it out). I set up my layout so that my seating charts for both tables are displayed on my pre-tournament screen with the countdown to tournament timer. I have that set, but for some reason I can't seem to figure out how to have both first and last names displayed for each player, and with 20 players as oppose to 10 there is a greater chance to have more than 1 player with the same first name playing. So if I have 3 Mikes playing, without there last name how do I know which Mike goes where?

2. My next question is in regards to the player movement/table balancing. Is it possible (or there might be an easier way), that when tables become unbalanced and a player needs to be moved, instead of having the generic player movement screen appear (which appears to be the default when balancing tables...I'm not sure if it only displays for a period of time before going back to your normal touranment screen) setting up an event or something so that a status message appears (say for 60 or 90 seconds) over a portion the tournament screen stating that player x in current seat 3 at secondary table needs to move seat 4 at feature table?

Also to add to (2.) that incase players are into a hand and aren't aware that someone ones knocked out at the other table and a player has to move to have audio trigger stating something (tables unbalanced, players need to move...) I'm not sure if there are any high quality sounds out there for something like that or what everyone else does? Or if I'm just overthing things and making things more difficult than they need to be.

I know there is a pre-defined event of "table balance suggestion" which is what I was originally thinking, but wasn't sure what would be needed for condition (if any) or what to put for display message. If there is an audio clip that someone could point me to I know how to play a sound.

Hopefully these questions make sense. Thanks in advance  :)

Help Me / Formula error
« on: December 08, 2012, 01:20:55 PM »
I'm hosting a game tonight, the last tourney before our league and I wanted to test out the points formula before the league started just to make sure everything is working ok. But when I tried to test the formula I get an error. What is wrong with the following formula:

10*(SQRT(n/r)) - (nr)

Thanks

Help Me / 2 seperate prize pools?
« on: December 06, 2012, 08:24:57 AM »
Hello everyone,

I'm hosting our last tournament for the year this weekend where you can *win a seat into our league that kicks off in January. It's a T2,500 tourney with a $25 buy-in ($20 goes towards the nights prize pool and $5 goes towards the league entry prize pool). Rebuys for first 3 rounds (1 hour). Rebuys are $20 ($10 towards the nights prize pool and $10 towards the league entry prize pool) and a 1 time add-on (1500 in chips) for all players after round 3 for $10 towards the league entry prize pool.

Is there a way for TD3 to keep track of both prize pools, or am I better off only inputing the info for the nights prize pool $20 buy-in, pretend its only $10 for rebuys and there is no add-on and just keep track of the league entry prize pool on my own.

*The way I'm working the league entry prize pool is:
If the league entry bonus pool exceeds the league buy-in ($75), then the remainder (after 1st place in the tourney receives their free entry into the 2013 Poker League) will go the next place finisher, up the maximum payouts listed below and so on, until all money collected for the league entry bonus pool is paid out to the winner(s).

1st Place: $75 (Full 2013 League buy-in)
2nd Place: $50 towards the 2013 League buy-in
3rd Place: $30 towards the 2013 League buy-in
4th Place on: $20 towards the 2013 League buy-in

If for some reason a winner of the league entry bonus pool does not wish to partake in the 2013 Poker League, then that player forfeits their league entry bonus pool winnings and they will be passed onto the next place finisher interested in receiving them.

Now that I have my formula figured out, I'm assuming that I place the formula on the game tab under the points for playing box. Is that all I have to do? I plan on running some simulations to make sure everything is running smoothly before the start of the league, but thought I would save myself some grief by asking first.

Also, I plan on using only the top 7 out of 11 scores for each player for the league. Do I just go into the files later and manually drop the low scores or is there a way for TD3 to do that for me? I'm not sure if its all part of the export tab, I haven't played around at all with that yet. I am keeping a running leaderboard on a website for league points, I wasn't sure if its easier for me to just manually put the info into the website, or if there is some trick with exports.

Again, I apologize as I haven't fiddled around at all with exports yet.

Not a problem... I know that in some of the games I've seen with 20 people, unless we restricted rebuys and addons, we have seen upwards of 10-15 rebuys from people. Given what you mentioned, the one point per should work out just fine.

I certainly wouldn't complain if our players tried pusing things and bought in more times...just means a bigger purse for the winners  :)

In the interest of fairness & reasons you stated, I would go with B as is. My only concern is that if you have someone with 12 total rebuys/addons, do you really want them to lose almost all their points by losing 12, when they would normally receive 13-15? I would be a proponent of going with 3/4 or 1/2 point per occurrence, personally.

12 rebuys/add-ons by 1 player in 1 tourney? Maybe in some tourneys around the world, but not in our game. We probably average about 4 rebuys total during any given tourney of 10 players. I think the most any 1 player has rebought in a single tourney is 3 and that has only happened once. To be honest, its rare that we have any add-ons, but I was going to have it in the formula just incase. So in a 10 person tourney, if someone rebought 3 times and still finished in last place ( :-[), they would still receive 7 league points. Our league is going to consist of 11 tourneys and only the top 7 scores will be counted towards player of the year rankings. So even if someone had the worst night in our games history and rebought 10 times and still managed last place, he would get 0 points and could drop that score for player of the year standings (assuming they show up to more than 7 games)

I did spend some time considering 1/2 or 3/4 points, but I'm fairly certain I will be sticking with 1 point per rebuy. I do appreciate your opinions though.
