Title: Template Gallery
Post by: Jarmy on June 20, 2007, 03:53:55 PM
Based on comments from TenPercenter and Bojan1983, I am not the only one that would love to see a gallery of TD user templates.  Hopefully this thread will start the ball rolling.  Please post your layout and any ideas and designs that you would like to share.  It is obvious that many of the TD users are talented by looking at their layouts.  This thread could help the rest of us catch up and learn from past mistakes of others.  Please save your template file (so users can download them) along with a jpeg file so you can see it in the forum.  Thanks!!!

If there's enough interest, I'll be happy to host these on the main website.

??? ???  Wow.......kind of disappointed that no one attempted to share their templates.  I guess the users want to keep their graphics unique.  I really thought this would take off, especially with all the scattered discusions about this topic.   ???  ???

Heh... I'm not sure how you would want it put up here and its not that impressive, but functional... But I am dying to take a look at how CasinoCalgary has his template... I'm just too busy to get out there and play a tourny

Maybe Corey can shed more light on this topic, but here is what I did:

Open TD and load one of your tournaments (click on Load in the Games tab).  Press F2 or click on the Tournament box to open the tournament page.  Press the number “1” to go to the main page (just in case you have a pre-tournament screen).  Press the “Print Scrn” button on your keyboard.  Open Paint and click on Edit…Paste…File…Save As…name your file…hit the drop down box beside of “Save as type” and select JPEG…change the location (save in) to your desktop.

Come back to this forum and click on “Additional Options” below the text box and “Browse” to the desktop (or other location) where you saved your JPEG template.

You can also post your template file or wait to see if someone wants a copy by clicking on “Additional Options” again and browsing to c:\program files\the tournament director 2\templates\YourTemplateName.tlo  OR  c:\program files\the tournament director 2\saves\YourSavedTournament.tdt.

Most people with high quality graphic heavy templates know how to do this stuff.  Hopefully this will help the ones that don’t.

That'll be a good idea Corey, once enough get posted.  At a point, this thread will get diluted with discussion (perfectly fine), so it'll be hard for guests to see all the layouts in opne place.

FYI, I've implemented an export feature for the layout for the next version.  This will export your layout (.tlo file) and all images that your layout utilizes to a ZIP file, to make it easy to relocate (read: share) your layouts.  You can optionally include sound template and sound files, and chips layout and chips image files.  Hope to release later this week.

Great idea Corey!  Hopefully this will prompt more involvement from the guys out there with great template layouts.

Corey..
Would there be a way to include an external file in this zip?  Such as a Photoshop PSD file of the multi-layered layout?
This would allow me to share the layout in a way to have others just open up Photoshop, and modify logos, colors, etc to their liking, while still maintaining the over-all look and layout.

(I guess this is only a request from me, since I use a full-screen background image to create the divisions in color and design for the layout... which allows me to keep all the Cells/borders transparent).

if everyone else just colorizes their cell colors and borders... then i guess the PSD wouldn't be a needed option...

It might be as easy as me just copy/pasting the PSD into "SomeFolderName", which would then by default be included in your Zip...

I'm not exactly sure what you are asking.  But you can always add files to a ZIP archive at any time, using WinZip or similar utility, or just the built-in ZIP support in Windows (XP).

All TD filetypes should be allowed: tdt, tlo, trt, tpt, tst, tch, ttb, trl

I've added .pic files, if that's really what you needed...

I hope you will, cause this topic is becoming more of discussion, not a gallery...  I am still using slightly edited default template which u must admit looks cheap...

Corey,

Where do we stand on making a "Template Gallery" topic heading on the forums page?  Maybe if you put that up and explain what it is for, then maybe people will start posting their .tlo files.  I think the interest is there.....

Definitely!

I'm now starting to play around with the layouts but I ain't no graphics artiste. Just lookin for cool backgrounds.

I like the sample template scheme "BlackandGreenwithButtons" because of the buttons displayed at the bottom. Makes it real easy for someone else to handle the software if they are not used to it(like standing in for a couple of minutes while the call of nature is being answered!)

That was actually the intention of this forum to begin with.  With the recent addition of the Layout export option, I was hoping to see layouts posted, and enough to justify a place on the main TD website to make them easily available to everyone.  But so far we although we have seen a lot of interest from those wanting layouts, I haven't seen a whole lot of layouts posted.  Or am I missing them somewhere?

???  I just don't get it?  There seems to be a lot of interest in the sharing of layouts, but no one wants to ACTUALLY share their layout.  Several users that have posted jpeg's have been asked to share their layout, but they evidently are not interested in doing so.  I guess I was naive to think that TD users would be willing to share their talents with others.   ???

or more likely that we are not all that creative and run pretty simple layouts... I have virtually the same pics as above and I put a little neon glow in the letters... big woopty doo, I don't think anyone will really be all that impressed. There is another user here, CasinoCalgary, and yes that is a real casino. I went to one of the their tournys to see what kind of layout they had and it was just the default layout. I went to another tourny in town and their layout was beautiful but the program they used was not TD. They wouldn't tell me what program they did use though. However, TD would do the same thing, its just that I can't find a background like it and I can't make one for myself.

Just to keep this Layout Galley going on i put in my new layout for our pokerclub http://www.tistrup-poker-klub.dk (http://www.tistrup-poker-klub.dk)   (take a look at our website too, its Kool as Kool can be 8))

First picture is a picture of the pokerclock layout (u dont need this one)
Second picture is the bagground picture needed for the pokerclock to work
And next one is the *.tlo file for the layout

you need to download both the bagground picture and the *tlo file to get the layout working

feel free to download it and make any comments what so ever, any comments will be taking into considerations when i make changes to our layout and our website.

Must have missed this tread, otherwise I would have upload my layout pics here in the first place. I you want to discuss I have started the thread below. I'll upload my template after I've had my next couple of tourneys to check if there are any issues.

sCOTT,

check out section 13.6 of the help tab on placing images on the screen for layouts.  It covers it in detail.

Its worth reading the whole layout help section as it explains in detail how to manipulate each part of a layout including background images.
