Title: 50 chip and 500 chip simular color
Post by: Keith_Huggins on December 07, 2006, 04:36:04 PM
hello,

as the title states my 50 and 500 chips are of a simular color (blue and purple)

What do you guys do to help keep it straight - a couple people have made comments that they have almost thrown in 500 instead of 50 and visa versa

Those of you with a simular setup - What do you do to help keep it straight?

Keith

It may be as simple as increasing the level of light in the playing area.  In lower light levels, the blue and purple would be harder to distinguish between.

Otherwise, i would see basically two choices:  Replace one of the chip colors with a new color, or add labels to the chips.

Another suggestion would be to make one of those colors of a higher chip value, for example $10K or $25K, that you would only put in play when the $50 chips have already been raced out.

We have a blue and black chip that used to get mixed up but we did exactly what dc_rocker suggested. Moved the black one to a higher value and didn't have to use them until after the blue chips were chipped up.

How about getting rid of the T50 chip altogether?  If you have T25 and T100, you really don't need a T50.

sorry to hijack this thread but CanopicJar suggested to put labels on the chips and that got me thinking exactly what he meant by it? Just marking them with a permanent jiffy marker or to buy some plastic labels made for poker chips. If its the second option, I think that would be a great idea and where could I get them?

Just use your blue Chips as the smaller amount and the purple the Highest, so when you chip up your blues should be off the table, and
for lables is a good idea but it makes your chips not stack up properly and makes it rock more cause of the lables

if you want I have about 8000 tournament with Clear Tray rack and Clear Poker Cases  for 750 Canadian Dollars
White - 1300 chips
Red - 1000 Chips
Green - 1500 Chips
Blue - 750 Chips
Black - 750
Purple - 750
Yellow - 750
Grey - 750

with My games I give out 20,000 in chips

10 reds = 100 x 10 =1000
8 Greens = 500 x 8 = 40000
3 Yellows = 5000 x 3 = 15,000
for a  total of 20,000

starting rounds at 100 200 blinds

this game takes me about 5 hrs, and i usally get 120 players regular Friday nights basses
