Help Me / Sorting and history
« on: August 04, 2006, 12:30:12 AM »
1.  Earlier I had a sorting problem with the players.  Turns out my version isn't the same one you're working on (just check my earlier posts).  It does sort by chipcount but ascending.  Kinda wanted the chip leaders listed at the to?

2.  I was hoping to get an html export of the history.  Like who busted who, who rebought at what time, stuff like that.  I can paste out the text, but it's a real pain to stick each piece in a table (Time, Action, Player involved) etc.    I know you said u were going to include more tokens to export.

Is there a new version other than 2.1.2?

Thanks!

Doh!  Looks like I added that after 2.1.2.  Sorry I had you checking and double-checking.  It's hard to keep track sometimes.

Well, at least you'll know right where to look when the next version is released!   :)

quite all right.. I do the same thing !

You're blind.  :-)

If you customized which fields are displayed on the Player Rankings screen, then you pressed the "Edit Columns" button.  Just above that button is a radio selection:

. Sort by rank, name, chip count
. Sort by rank, chip count, name

I still can't find it. I Must be Blind! Here is a screenshot of the "Edit Columns" but the radio buttons don't have anything to do w/sorting:

What I did find is when you click on "Edit Columns" you get this screen ( I did this to customize which fields i wanted to appear)

the arrow buttons on the LEFT decide the order of the colums.  THEY ALSO decide the order of the SORT, but that's not stated anywhere.  Had I screwed around with it some more i would have relized it.  I wanted the Player name in Column 1 and chipcount in column 2 with the ascending sort on Column 2.

The sort is automatic based on the column order you choose.

If I have misunderstood this, please tell me :)

Goal:  Column 1-Name, Column 2-Chips then Sort by Column 2

Thanks for your patience!

The action summary (different from the History) can be exported on the Summary tab.  The action summary can also be "exported" simply by highlighting all of the text, copying and pasting it into some other application (Word, notepad).  You can do the same with the tournament history.  I'll add <actionsummary> and <history> tokens to the Tournament export (from the Game Tab).

Oh yea check that out.  Once I export the game summary to HTML i can edit it with the action.  Should be pretty cool.

Help Me / Re: Cash Games

Haven't thought this out too much, but how about performing a chop at the end?  When your game is done, press CTRL+C.  This will initiate a game-ending chop, where all of the remaining players effectively bust out and split the pot.  You can divide the pot however you choose.

Yea i tried that, but that ends the entire game.  Let's say one guy leaves but he busted out like 4 people and leaves because he has to go to work the next day.  He may have tripled up.  We track who made the most profit that night and post him in the winning spot.  The guy who left may have in fact come in first.  But we won't know till everyone gives up and goes home.

I know TD is totally not desiged for people to leave the tourney whenever they want to and cash in thier chips.  I was hoping there was a creative way to work around this.  Rememeber, people can leave at any time and the game will still keep going.

I experimented with busting them out and not declaring a hitman. I've also tried to unseat the player w/all of his chips.  No real luck.... I might end up fudging the resulting HTML to reflect it wasnt really a bust out.

Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Cash games don't need the TD at all I would think.

Just play for as long as you want to, and if people cash out then thats fine. Just play it like a real game, so they can't 'go south'

That's what we've always done.  But since this tracks rebuys and hitmen, the guys would like to see the end results and that sexy output.

Plus we've experimented with raising the blinds a little as the night goes on.  With rebuys and such, the inital blinds don't mean as much.  It's not the typical cash game where people come and go all night, it's basically the same guys.

Help Me / Cash Games

Sometimes we play cash games and I really like the hitman feature and how TD tracks the rebuys.  I've used it for a number of cash games but i've not figured out a way to end the tournament and have it show accurate results.  I know it wasnt designed for it but can anyone think of a creative way of doing it?

in other words, one guy might play for 2 hours and cash out for the highest amount of the night.  In a way he 'busts' out of the tourney and cashes in his chips.  The rest of us might play for the next 3 hours and people leave at various times.. Eithey they bust ouyt and dont rebuy or they're need to go to work the next day and cash in what they have in front of them

IU'd like to track that Cash Out amount and take them out of the tourment.

I paused the game and saved it until I could reasonably figure out how to do it...

We do track performance at the cash games, too.  Buit it can be hard to tell w/all the rebuys,, but TD really solved that!

Any ideas on cashing out and leaving the 'tournament'

Is there any way in the export function to include the tournament history?  I'd kinda neat to see the History's window timeline and would be a nice addition to the table that you can export.

On the player screen, it lists all the players and their chip count.  Between rounds we figure out who has the highest two chipstacks at each table.  We update those players with the chip count.  Is there any way to sort that list according to chip count?  It would be cool to have the chip leaders at the top!

Right-click and select Player Rankings Properties.  Then select Sort by rank, chip count, name.

I'm running 2.1.2 and I did check there before posting.   I went there to customize which fields I wanted to appear on the list.  But I can't see where there is a Sort option - if it's there I'm really blind!  it's been known to happen!

Help Me / Re: out to a TV
« on: July 06, 2006, 10:58:01 PM »
This might be over the top but....

I have an S-Video out to my TV from my laptop.  I run VNC Server on my laptop and keep it near the TV but almost closed (So it doesnt hibernate)

I then go to my main PC to VNC into my laptop to actually control it.  I have a wireless network.

I find it's clumsy to be working the laptop w/the cable and easier to use my PC.

Alternatively, I've connected my wireless keyboard and mouse to my laptop and then I'll just plop the keyboard and mouse up on the game table to make a quick change.
