Title: HQ Card Room Announcements
Post by: Stuart Murray on August 23, 2010, 10:26:09 AM
Hi all, I have recently got a hold of some really high quality sound files for blinds, antes and events.

For best results use at least a 2.1 sound system to carry the bass of the announcements around your card-room/poker-room etc

The running ante announcements are seperate from the blinds for obvious structure reasons. Use the elapsedSeconds token to play the running ante after the blind announcement.  (VERSION 3.0 REQUIRED)

*** LOOK BELOW ON REPLIES FOR BLINDS AND ANTE ANNOUNCEMENTS***

*** LOOK BELOW ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR EVENT FILES ****

The last 3 hands for those unaware is a completion of re-buy periods, where the level finishes the clock pauses at the end of the level at 0 secs and then 3 final hands are played before the tournament goes onto break or next level.  This ensures the fairest conclusion to the Re-buy period, with all tables and players getting the same chance to re-buy.

10 mins until end of buy-ins applies to Add-on and late registration tournaments.

Regards
Stuart

Update 16th January 2022

With the Big Blind Ante becoming particularly prevalent in every level of poker right upto the WSOP  I have edited what is available to include larger ante announcements and updated the correlated announcements.tst eventfile.

Possibly just me but Tournament Director keeps giving me a "There was a problem loading the template" error message.  Can anyone help with this?

The template was saved with 2.6 beta 4.  You can't load it with an earlier version of the TD.

Ah my mistake I'm running 2.5.11.

Sorry, I wish the TD could tell you that but the fact is the older version just doesn't understand the format of the newer version, so it gets confused.

Hi Stuart.
Excellent job of 'obtaining' the crm sound files.
Thanks also for supplying the templates. They have enabled me to correct the way I associate my sounds with the levels. Mine were more long winded.
I do have a request though.
Do you have any of the sound files for the levels above 10000 - 20000.
Our club regularly reaches 20000 - 40000 and some times 30000 - 60000.
Levels higher than 30000 - 60000 would also come in very usefull later this year when I am hosting a 2 day team challenge event.
No problem if you don't have them. Worth asking though.....
Many Thanks
Clive Padden

Hi Clive,

The highest the soundfiles goes to is 10k/20k so nothing above that i'm afraid.  Glad your enjoying the sounds!

Hi Stuamurr

Like the quality of these sounds....Better than the internet based robotic sounds, I am updating my chips to higher amounts which will work well with these sound.Thanks...However I have anoucements at break times..One states theres now a 5 minute break and one for when food comes, theres now a 20 min break....Did you find these sounds on the web or did you use a piece of software ( like natural speaking ) to make these..Thanks aload

hi Arthur,

these sounds are professionally recorded in a sound lab for casino software, so can't help you out with other announcements, It does have "Start of Breaks" and "Short Break Soft"

Superb sound files.. really makes a tournament appear very professional (my tournaments are like a swan.. serene to all who play.. but sheer panic behind the scenes!)

I found this website (http://www.oddcast.com/home/demos/tts/tts_example.php) which allows you to type in phrases and get them spoken, you can choose your language and voice [Daniel(UK) is closest to the files Stuart provided]

There's no direct way to save the spoken text from the website, however, if you are using windows, you can use the "Stereo Mixer" in Control Panel ->Sounds->recording, you can set this to be your default sound recording device ("Stereo mixer" is normally not visible - right click in the dialog and select "disabled devices" - or simply Google!!!), this will allow you to use the bog standard sound recorder to capture (and save) anything played through your pc speakers  8)

You should use Stuarts layout, it is identical to the UK casino's (cardroom magic) only better.

If you have real player downloaded and installed as primary program an option will appear to "download movie" which will download the speech file as an mp3 file if memory serves me correctly that's what I did before I got hold of the files on this thread

Hi Stuart,

First off, thank you for supplying the voice overs. I have a question for you, is there a voice over for 2500 and 5000? If so, would you be able to provide it?

Thanks in advance!

hi mesnik,  i'm afraid not, although you could easily "cut n' shut" the 25-50 and add the word thousand to the end of each amount from a thousand announcement, I experimented and made a 12,000-24,000 but I didn't have the finesse to make a good job of it, so it sounds rather tatty compared to the others, which is why it is not included on the thread.

I was using Cool Edit Pro 2, but i'm sure there will be better programs around for editing .wav's

Hi Luigi,

The newer version of the casino software apparently has higher value soundfiles, butI am yet to be at a cardroom where I am able to access them, once the regular casinos I am at are updated I should be able to get a hold of them, but no idea when that will occur
