Help Me / Formula Help
« on: April 26, 2012, 09:54:34 AM »
Could you take a look a this points system below. It is for a team game 80 players - 4 in a team. I want to try and make a formula based on this.
I know that i can award points on the game tab for
Playing in the game and
Earning a bounty etc.

But there are a couple of things that i would like to know. would like to know a formula for the point system below. and the hardest part. Is there any way to award a player 1 point for every full level that they last in a tournament.
example a player gets knocked out in level 5 and they would receive 4 points, a player gets knocked out in level 10 and would receive 9 points and so on.
Not forgetting that the player who wins the game in level 18 would they would win 17 points
and finally would there be anyway of collating the points of the teams together.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Any thoughts negative or otherwise would be welcome too.

Points
A points scoring system will be used to determine the winning team (an additional point will awarded for each bounty won) the team with the highest points total will win the team prizes.

How Teams earn points  :-
•   Each player gets 1 point for playing in the game
•   For every bounty a player wins their team will win 1 point
•   Each player earns  1 point for every full level that they survive.

For example all player earns points :-
80 players in the game - 20 teams of 4 players

•   Players  eliminated in positions 80th  - 77th will each receive 1 point
•   Players eliminated in positions  76th  - 73rd will each receive 2 points
•   Players  eliminated in positions 72nd  - 68th will each receive 3 points

and so on with each group of 4 players winning 1 more point than the players who are eliminated before them

•   Players  eliminated in positions 12th  - 9th eliminated will each receive 18 points
•   Players  eliminated in positions 8th - 5th will each receive 19 points
•   Players  eliminated in positions 4th  - 1st will each receive 20 points

Eventually (when I implement this) it will go on the Game tab where the other restrictions for add-ons and rebuys are now.

Templates, Layouts and Sounds / Re: inserting a cell
« on: April 25, 2012, 05:27:12 AM »
So on the left side of the line should be the club name, while the right side of the line is a scrolling marquee with text that varies based on what's going on in the tournament.  The trick is making the left side (the cell with the club name) take only as much space as it needs, while the right side should use up the remaining space, in order to give the marquee as much space as possible.

For varying screen widths, this becomes tricky.  If the club name cell varies in size (different clubs?), it becomes trickier.  And if the marquee is "empty" (no text) at any point, it becomes even trickier.

I would recommend designing this for a specific screen size, and thus specific cell sizes.  As an example, I am looking at a screen width of 1280 pixels.  After some experimentation, I determined that the club name cell needed to be 565 pixels wide (I used your "cardroom name" cell).  Instead of using the cell height/width values, I leave those blank and used the following HTML:

<div style="width: 565px; overflow-x: hidden"><span style="color=#ffffff; font-size: 18pt"><nobr>Welcome to the Franlin Snooker and Social Club</nobr></span><br><span style="color=#ff0080; font-size: 15pt"><nobr>Franklin Poker <season></nobr></span></div>

So, that leaves 1280 pixels minus 565 pixels, or 715 pixels for the marquee.  Again, instead of using the height/width values of the cell, I leave those blank and use the following HTML:

<div style="width: 715px"><marquee> We hope you had a GREAT game of poker. For more information on all things about the Franklin Poker League. Check out www.facebook.com/franklinpoker for game information, and results.</marquee></div>

Of course, this makes it more tedious to modify this layout for different screen sizes, and to account for each of the scenarios you have for each of those cells (different marquee text, for example), but it has the results I think you are after.

Many Thanks, this worked just the way i wanted it and now i can see how it was done , makes it a bit easier to understand.

Suggestions / Re: Rebuys
« on: April 23, 2012, 12:38:40 PM »
Unless you found something I am unaware of, this is currently not possible.  I do have an item on the to-do list to add one more "condition" to add-ons and rebuys, where a formula could be used to specify the conditions.  That would allow your request to be done using a formula like:

chipStack < (defaultBuyinChips * .5)

No, I had thought that this would be a safeguard to stop people rebuying if they were above the specified number of chips set at the onset. But then realised that their would be no way that the soft ware would know how many chips a player had left in play. Unless the chip count was updated all the time - which would just make more work.

Would be easy enough to make a message appear every so often that told players what the rebuy conditions were.

That formula, where would that go?
Cheers

On the game tab, the re-buys section. You have an option to allow players in the game to re-buy. Is there anyway to set this option so that players can only re-buy if they are below a set number of chips.
For example on a lot of poker sites / casinos you have to be below the starting stack to re-buy and some have options so that you can only re-buy if you have less than 50% of the starting stack.
Just an idea

Suggestions / Re: New Tournament
« on: April 20, 2012, 12:12:09 PM »
Not a big one, but was thinking how easy a new tournament is to set up on cardroom magic.  You select new and then specify the structure, prizes, entry amounts etc from drop down menus, once complete you click create and it then has already set-up the tournament and you are ready to begin registration, obviously with TD3 you would probably need an option to use <none> or <existing> on each drop down. would something like this be achievable on TD3?

Regards
Stuart
Hi Stu,
Your right, the cardroom magic is easy to set up. And many thanks for originally posting it.
What i have done is make different templates for each type of game.
Freezeout - Deepstack and League games
Rebuys and add- ons - (both limited and unlimited)
Late entries with 1 rebuy
Rebuy and/or Add on etc

and this way you can set everything up and know what you will be getting. Alter the Layouts to suit the type of game your running
Haven't set up any Omaha or other variations as i dont get much call for them
I have made the templates "read only" so you cant accidentally overwrite them

As an aside. I save different templates in separate folders, usually the name of the venue, PUB 1, PUB 2 etc
Then any saves that I make for a particular tournament are all saved in the appropriate venue's folder

Templates, Layouts and Sounds / inserting a cell
« on: April 20, 2012, 11:00:41 AM »
I have a cell (info text) that runs across the top of the whole screen. It acts as an information cell which scrolls information about the poker league. I have it set so that it changes, for different moments throughout the game, pre tournament, even rounds, odd rounds, breaks and after the game.  etc
I want to put a similar cell (club name cell) to the left of this, to hold a the club  name.

So it would look like the text (which is running from right to left), would appear to run under the cell that hold the logo. Just as you get  ( for example) on TV sports show where they have information scrolling across the bottom of the screen.

I have set both cells to a height of 18 and this lines up great. But i cant figure on what to put in for the widths. The logo cell i have set to  350, but it goes half way across the screen. The other cell i set at a width of 1326.
And also the text that i have put in the screen is not showing. I am using  the same text size and colours and  background colour, but the text is not showing either

The size of the screen is 1376 *  768.

Any ideas please
Thanks in advance

What you're asking for is an editor with syntax highlighting.  Might not seem like much, but this would be a lot of work.  I'm not saying it wouldn't be helpful, but if you're really in need of something like this, you're probably better of using a tool specific to this type of thing, and copying the text back and forth between the TD and that tool.

There are lots of editors, and frankly I'm a fairly old school developer so you don't want what I use (vim), but something as simple as Notepad++ which will colorize your HTML would probably be helpful:

Thanks, i will take a look at the Notepad. Many thanks

I'm not going to implement this, but I'll take a quick look around for a drop-in replacement that will do this.  Maybe someone has already done the hard part.  :)

Help Me / Re: Tables Breaking
« on: April 10, 2012, 11:32:04 AM »
There's already a trigger for "A table balance is suggested".  Are you asking for a more specific trigger, for when a table is removed from play?
Yes, that is what i was looking for. When a player is eliminated and table is taken out of play

Suggestions / Formatting a cell
« on: April 10, 2012, 08:21:51 AM »
When you format a cell you can use all the different HTML elements. If it is a large peice of text i use the Rules tab. Type what i want in there and the put the token(announcements ) etc.  into the cell

So if you have a large section of text. Where you format different parts of the text sections differently. IE breaks, marquee, headings etc. diiferent coloured fonts for different sections, headings etc
I have several cells that display different  information,( it acts like news feed). if you need to alter it and you have  a lot of text. it can turn into a long job.
Would it be possible to have the text that is to be displayed. either a different colour or, bold, or Italicised

This is some text I have on one of the rules tab. A short one

<marquee>   POKER INFORMATION  <span style="width: 20px"></span>   <span style="color=#ffffff; font-size: 15pt"> The poker league have a game on the 3rd Saturday of every month. A great game with a good chipstack. For more information <span style="width: 10px"></span>Check out  on our website at
<span style="color=#0000ff; font-size: 15pt"> <span style="width:30px"></span>
www.poker.co.uk

Hope this gives you the idea of what i would like. (This is just one of the very short rules. There is one that covers the rules and ettiquette which is about 50 lines of text)

This way you would be able to see at a glance what text requires changing. This would only be for when the cell is getting edited and not used aa a way of formatting the cell or the way it would look on the screen.

Would it be possible set up an event for when a table is broken. To either play a sound or display a message?
