Title: EPL layout
Post by: Hally on November 21, 2008, 06:39:22 AM
This is the layout for our league i knocked up after drawing some inspiration from some of the great stuff that others have posted here (in particular BPC - very creative!).

Cheers for all the feedback.
I have uploaded the template zip - bit of a work in progress still but you get the idea. Also, not sure if it will be a problem but i used Calibri which is a Vista font i think? You might have to find another font that will fit that size.

If this is of use to you - a quick shout out or thanks would be appreciated.
Cheers

So how would I go about using this template for a tournament? Can you create a theme file or something ? I know you spent time doing it. If you don't wanna do a theme can you explain the best way that i could do one like this. I think this is one of the cleanest themes.
Thanks

Thanks guys, have to give full credit to BPC for the idea of the layout - I just added my own style to it.

The layout is still a work in progress - but exported it and uploaded it to the orig post.
Yep, I put it together with photoshop. Got the layout the way i liked it in TD, then took a screen capture and pasted in PS. I eventually set that layers blend mode to lighten (or drop the opacity) so that i could create the boxes underneath in the right places.
Tried to zip the psd's and upload but they were over the 1meg limit (~1.3-1.9meg zipped - "compatability" turned off in PS).
I might have to loose a few layers to shrink the size down and then retry.

FYI, I upped the upload limit to 5MB.

Hally, I would love to grab those PS files.  Hopefully with Corey uping the space, that won't be a problem.  Look forward to them.

Hiya mate.

Download the zip file and extract it.

It will give you a folder named EPL_buttons_V1_teplate. Inside that folder you have two more folders. Copy the files from Images and goto my computer>C:drive>program files>the tournament director 2>images. Paste the files into there.

Goto the second folder in the unzipped package called templates and open the folder in there. you will see another file. Copy it and go to my computer>C:drive>program files>the tournament director 2>templates. Paste the file into there.

Open up TD. go to layout>load template>select the file called EPL.

What do I need to do to get this working on a 1024 x 600 screen?  I use to use these on my XPS but I just bought a Netbook and want to run it from there.  I don't believe I have any software that will resize the jpg correctly.  Even after resizing the jpg images does anything else need to be done to have the fields line up correctly?

I'm also looking to get this to work with a 1024 x 768 screen? Great looking layout!

Here you go guys. I don't think you should have to make any alterations to make the boxes line up.

That's fantastic!  I'll test it tomorrow.  Does the red break page need to be resized as well or not?

Post by: Comitatus on March 19, 2009, 10:50:31 AM
Thanks man! Any tips on how to set it up to use the 1024 x 768 image with the original EPL layout?

Sorry, I'm new to the editing thing... :-\
Title: Re: EPL layout
Post by: Shed on March 19, 2009, 01:31:07 PM
I believe it's the following:

Under the TD directory > Data > Images > save the 1024x768 file as EPL_BG1 (you're saving over top of the other sized format in this directory).

When you open up your tournament everything should line up for the blue screen.  Still waiting on whether the red screen also needs resizing.

Post by: Hally on March 19, 2009, 07:40:15 PM
Sorry for the slow reply - added the resized breaks.
As Shed said, you just need to replace the background with the new one.

Thanks for the great help!
I got the layout to work, but it seems the 1024x768 is a bit off. I took a screen shot of what it looks like currently.

Looks like you may have to play around with the font sizes or switch to a different font to squeeze it back in...

Title: Re: EPL layout
Post by: Comitatus on March 22, 2009, 05:56:34 PM
No dice for me yet.... :-\

If I change the alignment, it just moves it too far to the left. Changing the font leaves it in the same position.

This is a very quick eyeball of spacing etc - seems to fit the 1024x768
Give it a try

Excellent. Sorry Shed, my laptop doesn't have a 1024x600 setting so can't line it up for you. Perhaps the 1024x768 would be a closer fit for you too?

your best bet is to make a diffrent screen like Post-Tournament its in the Layout Tab, click Screen Sets, click  new ( type in ( Post-Tournament )  click conditions, click ,After Game, this screen will pop-up after the Game Ends, tokens are good to use in this,  like  Endtime,  Ranking,  Farewell, ect,

Excellent product!

Love the layout and yes i have stolen from it shamelessly.

I have what will probably be a stupid question, where is the Chip cell on the layout. I see them on the screen but can find the cell in the layout.  :-\

Thanks

Jesus, never mind.
I was suffering from a i d 10 t error.

Didnt have the layout set to the right screen, was looking at the break layout.

Hi guys, I tried to save that template but when i opened the file it came up on TD as a blank white screen! Any hints why, it did say some of the components were not compatible but I dont know which ones.

Did you save the background images to your TD folder and is the layout point to them?

Another thing to look at as well is to ensure that if you want one background no matter if it's a break, even round, or odd round, is that you set it for all the different property types. My best guess is that Wick is right - ensure that TD is looking for the file in the right location (I have mine in a non-TD folder, works fine).

Very nice layout, i have been trying to dabble with layouts for a while but having a nightmare trying to line everything up.
I would love some 1600 x 900 images for your layout if thats possible so i can have a go at setting your layout up for my tournament.
Once again cracking layout  :D

Any change of a 1366 x 768?  This is awesome!!  I just upgraded to TD3 and don't feel like recreating my templates.

I would gladly send some paypal funds your way for the effort.  Awesome work!!

A crude way to change the background, if it's for the entire screen, would be to open the picture up with MS Paint, resize it to the resolution that you need it to be in (by using the pizel, not %age) and resave it - and that should work. May need to move the cells in TD to look the same way, but that is something outside of my forte.

Try wrapping the chips in a div that offsets the contents:

<div style="transform: translate(0, 10px)"><chips size="50" columns="5" values="right"></div>

The translate(0, 10px) will move the contents without affecting other items in the layout.  translate(x, y), where x and y can be positive or negative values (with "px" on the end).  Other values are valid, too, but this is probably all you need.

I'm not sure where that shifted part should go.  There doesn't really seem to be a place for it on that background.

Are you saying the time is displayed incorrectly and it should actually be 3:24:28 am?
