For the Commercial Users

A few items, many will already be on your 'To do' list but I thought I would re-hash them again:

Seating Chart columbs available in pages, rather as a single scrolling layout

Availability to run simultaneous tournaments from single PC, with multiple instances of TD running together, including a "hide screen" option so one tourney can easily be displayed on extended output whilst other tourney is registering

Flights - for multiple day1's of same event, the ability to draw & register players onto separate flights of the tourney, and the combine players together to form a combined prizepool, points, day 2/3 etc

an option where a new player is added in the players dialogue that TD remembers this addition when you click buy-in or immediately displays the buy-in dialogue with that player checked

an end to the correlation of players names being the principle control of the tourney, an option to simply reduce/increase the players and tables in use without having to bust out names and balance tables using the software, including the ability to eliminate all players from the tourney, and the clock continues, whilst you reinstate the correct players back into the tourney for the final table/first re-draw (we balance all tourneys manually after initial draw and bust out any name from the screen to simply keep the count correct on screen, then re-instate the correct names a few players before a re-draw/payout is required)

Prizewinner's receipts, printable from the prizes tab, with the ability to select any player remaining for that prize (click player, print, eliminate from tourney)

Prizes tab viewable/editable as a spreadsheet

Simplified option for tables, as numbers rather as names (to correlate with Paged Seating Chart, "Surname, Firstname - TABLE - SEAT (columb headers), with the ability to enter table numbers where tiers exist, (eg tier 1 = table 11,12,13 etc)

Customisable sound event buttons on the dashboard, could pick the sound on the edit dashboard pref tab, and it displays the filename without extension or a manually entered description of the sound, for example "!!Announce Start!!" which would link to "shuffle up and deal.wav"

Printable place tickets for each seat http://www.thetournamentdirector.net/forums/index.php?topic=2701.0 printed off by table number selection.

EDIT: A Registration & or Participation Fee option for example £30+£3, rather as £33 - £3 = £30 (defined as a rake)

Think that should do for now!!

Software is brill though, can do so much today with it that was not possible when I started using it!

Regards
Stuart

Yep, on the to-do list.

Availability to run simultaneous tournaments from single PC, with multiple instances of TD running together, including a "hide screen" option so one tourney can easily be displayed on extended output whilst other tourney is registering

I won't say "never", but I wouldn't count on this one.

Flights - for multiple day1's of same event, the ability to draw & register players onto separate flights of the tourney, and the combine players together to form a combined prizepool, points, day 2/3 etc

I wouldn't go further than a "maybe" on this one.

an option where a new player is added in the players dialogue that TD remembers this addition when you click buy-in or immediately displays the buy-in dialogue with that player checked

On the to-do list (to be able to buy-in a new player at the time you create the player, in the same way you can buy-in an existing player when you add them [from the database] to the tournament).

an end to the correlation of players names being the principle control of the tourney, an option to simply reduce/increase the players and tables in use without having to bust out names and balance tables using the software, including the ability to eliminate all players from the tourney, and the clock continues, whilst you reinstate the correct players back into the tourney for the final table/first re-draw (we balance all tourneys manually after initial draw and bust out any name from the screen to simply keep the count correct on screen, then re-instate the correct names a few players before a re-draw/payout is required)

Simple mode versus Tracking Players mode.  Are you saying you want to be able to use Simple mode, but still add player names to the tournament?

Prizewinner's receipts, printable from the prizes tab, with the ability to select any player remaining for that prize (click player, print, eliminate from tourney)

Prize receipts are on the to-do list.  You can already override prize recipient and award a prize to anyone you want, eliminated or not.  What's different here?

Prizes tab viewable/editable as a spreadsheet

Spreadsheet mode for Database tab and Prizes tab.  On to-do list.

Simplified option for tables, as numbers rather as names (to correlate with Paged Seating Chart, "Surname, Firstname - TABLE - SEAT (columb headers), with the ability to enter table numbers where tiers exist, (eg tier 1 = table 11,12,13 etc)

You can always name a table a number.  I'm not I understand the tiers part.

Customisable sound event buttons on the dashboard, could pick the sound on the edit dashboard pref tab, and it displays the filename without extension or a manually entered description of the sound, for example "!!Announce Start!!" which would link to "shuffle up and deal.wav"

Sound board is still on the to-do list.

Printable place tickets for each seat http://www.thetournamentdirector.net/forums/index.php?topic=2701.0 printed off by table number selection.

I see your previous post on this.  What would facilitate a receipt printer?  Would a page break or form feed help?

EDIT: A Registration & or Participation Fee option for example £30+£3, rather as £33 - £3 = £30 (defined as a rake)

This is a legacy item.  I realize most places like to advertise as "buy-in" + "fee", but the software was written using the opposite notation a loooong time ago, and changing it would utterly break every existing saved tournament.  Not to mention what users of the software are accustomed to.  I do wish I could change it, though, because it bugs me.

But, how would this benefit you?  You can always advertise on the layout by inserting your own text into a cell.  Or a layout token could be added that would display the buy-in + fee in a different manner.  In fact, you should be able to do it already in version 3:

<expression text="defaultBuyinFee - defaultBuyinRake" format="money"> + <expression text="defaultBuyinRake" format="money">

For my $55 buy-in with a $5 rake, the above displays: $50.00 + $5.00

The following will display it as $50 + $5:

$<expression text="defaultBuyinFee - defaultBuyinRake" format="number" precision="0"> + $<expression text="defaultBuyinRake" format="number" precision="0">

All in all some really great suggestions.  One thing to keep in mind, even though the software is sold to casinos and other poker businesses, the primary target is home users.  I certainly have created features that primarily benefit the commercial user, and I will continue to do so when appropriate, but I still tend to focus on the home user.  After all, they do make up the vast majority of software's users.

Edit: changed "For my $50 buy-in with a $5 rake" to "For my $55 buy-in with a $5 rake"

Simple Mode v Tracked Mode, yeh kinda of like a hybrid of the two, loose the correlation between players and the actual running tournament, for example in CardroomMAGIC (CRM) you can reduce player numbers to 0, and/or eliminate every player, all that does meantime is update the plasma to reflect player count, and average stack and table count, we would then reinstate the players (say last 11 for a 10 handed FT) and do a re-draw and issue payment receipts for those in the money, during all this the clock doesn't stop, it is only when the Save & Close Tournament is selected that the tournament clock is closed down.  The standard in the UK given the shortage of floorstaff is "bust anyone" meaning click a name out just to keep the plasma up to date, then sort it out later on, manually balancing & breaking tables as we go.

Prize Receipts, select recipient before elimination, from the list of active players, then select a print receipt which can be used at the cage etc for payout.

Tiers explains cardroom layouts better, for example main card room is tier 1, balcony is tier 2, upstairs cardroom is tier 3, so tables would be numbered 11-18 say for cardroom, 21-24 on the balcony and 31-38 in the second floor cardroom, TD merely allows you to name tables by number, (Table 1 etc etc (defined as a text field)) rather as 1,2,3 etc, which if we were having a paged view of the seating chart in columbs would mean the columb for table number would be rather large (i.e. it would read table 1 rather as a columb just with the actual table number in it)

Place Tickets, yeh 2" tickets, printed by POS receipt printer with the players name, table and seat number is all that is required, very handy for novice players or players unfamiliar with a cardroom they haven't played in before.

I am not really interested in displaying this information, as I usually display "Today's Tournament is a £50 Hold'em No Limit" there is never any mention of the Reg/Participation fee onscreen, but would be beneficial if these could be added to the game information and added to buy-in receipts, so the players entry receipt reads £55 paid (detailed as £50 Entry £5 P fee), and not treated as part of the players investment.

I realise a lot of these items are far flung for a software which is indeed primarily for the home user, and you do not have the resources of Bravo or CardroomMAGIC developers, but merely bringing them up once more to keep them on the wish list!

So.... what is the list of player names for?  I mean, is it displayed anywhere to the players?  Is it actually used for auditing (cash in/out, for example)?  Is it just to issue prize receipts?

list of players is still used for registration, seating, statistics, re-draws and issuing payments, generally nothing over the final table needs to be tracked as A) they all get the same points or B) they are outwith the money bubble, so their actual finishing position does not bear relevance to the actual mechanics of running an MTT, I think this is where CRM differs as the lack of correlation between the tournament and the database means multiple tournaments can run simultaneously on the same cardroom PC, and the database is only updated once the tournament is saved and closed down, now that I think that may be the key to multiple runs of the program as I know TD doesn't behave in that manner with the database running constantly and in direct communication with the active tournament.
