Beta Testing / Re: Version 2.6 alpha 1
« on: February 16, 2010, 10:26:17 PM »
I kind of achieved what I want...I deleted the Default.tlo from my templates folder renamed my layout to Default. My layout now loads on startup.

Beta Testing / Re: Version 2.6 alpha 1

I run several different tournament buy-ins, blind structures, bounty tourneys etc...They all use the same layout. When I modify the layout, it is not changed in all the tournaments I have used that layout. The layout that was last saved with the tournament is the one that is used. So when i modify my default layout, I have to open each tournament file and load the modified layout, then save the tournament (as it saves the layout with it).
And as per the default tournament not loading, I have uninstalled then re-installed and it seems to have corrected that issue.
Is there a way to have my layout open with the default tournament?

I have set a default tournament through the Preferences>Config Files. When I open TD, it opens up the default tournament set by TD during installation. Second, I'm not sure if I like the fact that whenever I load a tournament, I have to also load the layout I built for that tournament (the default layout is currently loading). I think what I would prefer is to have a particular tournament point to a layout and load that layout when I load the tournament.
I have several different tournament structures all using the same layout. When I modify the layout, I have to open each tournament, load the layout and save the tournament then go to the next.
Example:
5 tournaments all using the layout called "ABC". I modify "ABC" then open any one of the tournaments and the layout "ABC" is then loaded automatically.

Help Me / Re: Data Store Location
« on: February 16, 2010, 03:49:24 PM »
Sorry about the link...I took the swf files off last night. I put them back up so you can try to embed them into a cell . (five swf files in all, the main swf has four embedded swf files in a movie clip container)
I also ran into another problem with the alpha release. I created a layout using the alpha, reverted back to v2.5.10 (wondering if my swf files could not be rendered in the alpha version) and the layout and mock tournament I created in the alpha could not be opened.

Help Me / Data Store Location
« on: February 16, 2010, 12:43:01 AM »
Is there a way to set the Data Store to a file on my web server? and access it from work?
I don't know what the issue here is...but I want to embed a swf object in my layout.
<embed src="http://www.jodystacey.com/pokerAD.swf" width="900" height="250" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"</embed>
When you view this swf in a web browser, it displays. In TD 2.10, the background color of my swf file is showing up only.
This swf has embedded swf's.

Help Me / Keyboard query...
« on: February 15, 2010, 06:26:39 PM »
I work mainly on my laptop (building my layouts. The computer I run my tournaments on is a desktop. The number pad on the left side of the keyboard does not work when I want to enter the countdown. Every other part of TD2 accepts the number pad except for teh countdown. It is not an issue with Num Lock. Anyone else encounter this?

Help Me / Re: ms-its:TD.lib::/directorFS.hta
« on: February 12, 2010, 04:55:06 PM »
This message appeared a few weeks ago and it happened only the one time. I can't be sure if the text on the window exactly matches the subject, but it looked very familiar when I was looking through the Help Me topics. (this part I do remember as being an exact match "lib::/directorF5.hta" ). I was pretty concerned at the time because my desktop completely shut down and don't know what shut it down either. But it was the only time it happened. I posted hoping someone else using W7 may have info about this.

Help Me / ms-its:TD.lib::/directorFS.hta
« on: February 11, 2010, 10:48:46 PM »
I doubt I can get much help on this because I don't have many details to offer, but last week, my desktop (Windows &) shut down after about 30 minutes. TD2 was in countdown (over an hour left on the countdown). When I turned my machine back on, a window appeared with something similar to "ms-its:TD.lib::/directorFS.hta". I ran the tournament off my laptop and had my desktop running at the same time. The crash never happened again. I found entries about this error but they were from 2006 and don't apply to W7.
Has anyone else using W7 had this happen??

Help Me / Re: Is Windows 7 not ok?
« on: February 07, 2010, 08:16:13 PM »
A few programs I have used (including TD2 an Firefox portable) have developed memory leaks after being open after a certain point of time. Fixing the problem (for my other programs) was as simply as uninstalling the program, rebooting the PC and re-installing. Try this out...

Suggestions / Multiple Instances
« on: February 07, 2010, 06:34:25 PM »
Many people, including myself, have asked for TD2 to run multiple tournaments from the same machine simultaneously. Can TD2 be modified to allow multiple instances when running in simple mode and not tracking mode? The way the DB file structure is set up, it would be a major overhaul to allow one machine to run more than one tournament at once, however, when in simple mode, there aren't any dangers of player files being overwritten.

Umm...Excel isn't an operating system. It is a part of the Microsoft Office Suite. It is a spreadsheet. Operating System would be Windows 7, XP, OS10, Ubuntu. Please clarify

I am running W7 on a desktop with tournament director and haven't had one issue. One of my laptops also has 7 in it and haven't had a problem there either. Both machines have plenty of RAM with a pretty strong CPU to go with it.
But like many programs in Windows, it will lag if you run too many programs simultaneously (even with dual or quad core). Check the task manager to see if there or any other programs or services using up all the CPU or taking up too much RAM. End all processes that aren't needed and try that.

Here's my Halloween layout...nothing really fancy like the xmas layout. But again, there are fonts that have to be installed to get the real effect. I had fun  making the intro music for my tourney...clips from Cape fear, poltergeist, halloween with the horror kings opening and closing the intro montage...albert hitchcock and vincent price. My tourneys average 100 players per day, and through the time I used this clock layout, it was hilarious to hear many hooting just after the blinds went up. anyway, i have a boring layout for our normal operations so i won't post that one...but I will be making several for special events/holidays around my club...
Enjoy my halloween and use it if you can
