Help Me / Re: Heads up changing blind levels

Sneds, if you did have the backup turned on, then you still might be able to pull up the last saved backup file.  If you don't have the backup turned on, I would certainly suggest it for just the very reason that you mention.  It does take up some HD space and creates hundreds of files, but it will also save you if the software crashes for some reason in the middle of a tournament or you have a power outage, etc.  Even if the main tournament file is corrupted or something, you will still be able to load the most current (by date and time) backup file which will probably not be any different than the final saved file.

General Discussion / Re: TD vs another software
« on: November 29, 2007, 10:49:01 PM »
I first got TD when it was still in the donationware phase when I decided to start running my own tournament.  I ran one event and immediately sent Corey some money as I felt it was well worth it.  After 1 season, the tournament I was running became too cumbersome as far as keeping track of scores, etc. so I gave it up for a couple of months.  Then he upgraded it and it basically took care of all the extra time I had spent on keeping track of things so it was a simple matter of click and go.  I can't imagine there is anything better out there currently or anywhere in the future.

Wouldn't he be able to just restore one of the back-up files (assuming that he has the back-up turned on).  I guess I'm assuming that those hundreds of files that get created during a tournament are some sort of a backup, but maybe I'm wrong.

Buy a cheap used laptop or desktop and use TD on it in simple mode.

Help Me / Re: Bug on stats with 2.4.2?
« on: October 03, 2007, 01:21:59 PM »
Turns out that all of the league assignments on the players disappeared.  Don't ask me why, but they did.  Fortunately I noticed the edit members button rather than going through all 300 players and assinging them to a league one by one (which is what I thought I was going to have to do originally).

Help Me / Bug on stats with 2.4.2?
« on: October 01, 2007, 06:26:52 PM »
I ran the stats on a tournament that I held on 9-21 today with 2.4.2 and it comes up blank.  The stats worked just fine on 2.4.1.  I even tried opening it and doing a new save on it.

Here's the screen I get when I hit the info button and then click on the 1 tourney that was filtered.  As you can see, it looks like everything it being filtered correctly but the players.

Help Me / ID Sorting
« on: September 25, 2007, 12:06:48 PM »
Because of the huge response that I have been getting on my tournaments and the limited seating, I give out seats based on a couple of different factors.

First seats go to players who have played in events this year up until 1 week prior to an event.
Secondly, to players who played last year.
Lastly to new players who have not played at my events before.

Each category above is first come, first served based on when they sign up.  I am using the ID field to track dates when they signed up and when they played with me before, but when I click on the column header, I have no idea what it's using to sort that column because it seems to just jumble everything around.  Attached is a screen shot of the sorting.

Help Me / Re: Table movement
« on: September 19, 2007, 12:02:13 PM »
Oh definitely.  I actually have it set up now to play a sound when it gets to 30, 20 and 10.  20 so I can reshuffle seat assignments and 10 so I know when the final table is reached.  It's also great to have the option to add the pause clock in there since previously, we would sometimes forget to pause the clock when the final table was reached and then have to reset it.

Thanks Corey.  After I posted I thought about it and tried, but I was using n for number of players, not players.  I'll give that a shot.

So being that the players=30 is triggered by the player busting out and it's at the top of the event order, does that mean that one of my 290 random sounds for a playing busting out will not play at that point?

From what I'm reading, if 2 events are triggered at the exact same moment, the software will only use the one higher up on the list, but if 2 events are triggered at different moments, (i.e. someone busts out with 2 seconds left in a round and the sound action lasts 10 seconds and then the sound event for the end of round triggers at 0 seconds left), it will play both sounds at the same time, as long as that option is checked?

Why wouldn't you be able to make it play both events at the same time?

Ok, more table ?'s (although I guess you skipped trying to left justify the seat # on the last update, no biggie)

Now that you have events created, is there a way to control table seating #'s.

I have 6 tables and am going to run 11 handed until we get down to 30 players and then it will be 10 handed (or seats per table) after that.  Can I create an event that will trigger the system to change the seats per table once the player count gets to 30?  Also, can I create an event that will randomize all seating (and pause the clock automatically) when we get down to 20 players rather than just randomly seat the final table?  I don't want to clock automatically pause at any other time though.

Of course if I can't make the seats per table change, at least pause the clock and maybe display a message and play a sound so I can make the manual changes to the software for seats and redraw at the final 2 tables.

Help Me / Re: V2.4 Muted Event Sounds
« on: September 18, 2007, 12:10:25 AM »
ok, so I lied.  ;D  I had 249 different sounds for players being knocked out.  Fortunately, I was able to open up the .tst file in word and figure out how to search and replace everything to make it work.  Only took about 1/2 hour to get it all squared around.

Well it looks like I get to spend some time at the computer tonight fixing things.  Oh well.  Still worth the effort, I just didn't want to have unless I had to.

I have about 80 different sounds that played when someone busted out.  The old version automatically randomized the sounds so they wouldn't come up in the same order for each event as players bust out.  I also have 3 sounds that randomly play when the tournament starts, 4 at the start of breaks and 5 at the end of breaks.  Now, it seems, that it only picks the first sound listed and plays that same sound over and over.

How can I get the randomization back on 2.4.1?

Suggestions / Re: Player Club Membership
« on: September 12, 2007, 08:36:05 PM »
Just put the date that they paid last in the notes or id area and have it shown on the players tab.  Then you can sort it by date and see when people are due.  Obviously you would only collect when they show up, right?  (although you have to export it to Excel to get it to sort correctly)
I did something similar since I give first priority seating to players who played in my previous seasons.  Then as they sign up, I also input the date they signed up.  I can hold 66 players and for the first time in 2 years I am now sitting at 79 players for my event next week.
