SSSOP Points System
« on: August 15, 2009, 12:04:19 AM »
Here's what our league is using: 100 - [(place / # of players) * 100]

Note: I round the result of (place / # of players) to a whole number

Example: 2nd place in a 16 player game would be: 100 - [(2 / 16) * 100] = 87

The more players, the more points you get for placing since the odds of placing are higher. Last place always gets a point for coming. Please correct me if my equation is not written properly. It's been a while since I took Algebra :-)

Kinda stinks that last place is always going to get 0 points, but aside from that, it's workable.

This makes no sense..  If you round the result of (place / # of players) to a whole number, then the first half will always get 100 and the second half will always get 0.  In your 16 player example, places 1-7 get 100 points and 8-16 get 0 points.

1/16 = .0625 rounded = 0
2/16 = .125 rounded = 0
.                                                            100 - 0 * 100 = 100
.
7/16 = .4375 rounded = 0
--------------------------------------------
8/16 = .5 rounded = 1
9/16 = .5625 rounded = 1
.                                                            100 - 1 * 100 = 0
.
16/16 = 1 rounded = 1

C'mon give me some slack for not typing out the whole bracket... this gets rounded to a whole number: [(place / # of players) * 100]

Last place gets 1 point for coming. Makes you reconsider going all-in early in the rounds lol...
