Help Me / Re: Progressive Bounty
« on: September 03, 2018, 12:37:07 AM »
Even if that feature WAS implemented in TD, your challenge is still to have the players's bounty displayed so other players can know RIGHT AWAY what another player is worth.

When we do progressive bounty we use cards on which we write the player's bounty and they have to keep it in view of everyone.

So while it would be nice to have TD determine and keep track of players' bounty, that is not your biggest challenge.

Help Me / Re: Auto-addon at a certain stage?

And 2. Your solution is wrong. You cannot add-on if you have busted out (unless there's a config file somewhere...?)

Who said you have to bust them out? Just give them the add-on!!!

At the end of the day, I provided you with a way of determining who had received an add-on and who has'nt... Yes, I am sorry, this is a workaround as the feature you are requesting is not part of the software TODAY...

Seems to me that everyone of your players get 20K chips total no matter what, so instead of calling it Re-Buy (unless there is another reason for that...) simply give them a FREE Add-ON when/if they first bust (1 add-on max per player) and at the break give the leftover add-ons to anyone that has not taking it so far.

Physically, you could simply control that by giving a "ADD-ON" chip (any chip that has no other value in you tournament). When a player busts, he/she exchange this chip for a new stack or at the break exchange it for an extra 10K chips.

Suggestions / Re: Button Ante
« on: April 05, 2018, 03:01:56 PM »
Hi

Is button ante an option in the software ?
If not, will in be incorporated ?

Thanks

You do not need any software modification to do that... Simply adjust your ANTE values in your rounds and you are good to go.

Optionally, you could change the label in your layout from "Ante" to "Button Ante".

Suggestions / Re: rebuy/add-on - original positions
« on: March 31, 2018, 10:03:26 PM »
In any re-buy tournament that i have done, the players have to buy in as soon as they are busted.  Only ever seen this done at a poker league, and then the re-entry didn't cost anything.
Indeed, I am running a poker league tournament - unfortunately we are mandated to follow the tournament format which stipulates the (free) rebuy/add-on after the first hour.

Those should be viewed as re-entries really (new player, new seat)

Others out there: if you have a rebuy tournament, do you force players to wait until a specific time (a break perhaps) to be able to rebuy?  If so, how do you handle seating at the rebuy?

In a "typical" rebuy tournament, players cannot miss a single hand. I.E. They rebuy on the spot or leave.

In a re-entry tournament, players can opt to re-enter right away or up until the registration period closes. Re-entry normally stuipulates that the player will change seat but in small tournament that can prove difficult to do.

Suggestions / Re: Crash on Auto-Save
« on: March 01, 2018, 08:30:26 PM »
... Regardless, this was fixed in 3.4.  I just tested to be sure.  What you should see now is attached dialog.  This would allow you to get out of the cycle of pop-up messages by disabling auto-save and fixing the issue.

You are right, sorry about that. The thing is, the last time I saw my client, he warned me about saving the file I was testing on so I assumed the problem still existed... Good to know that he listened to me I guess ;-)

That said, have you made any headway on adding "Templates" or "Master" files to TD?

As a reminder of what I wrote on September 09, 2015.

It would be great if we could create MASTER files in TD. Attempting to open a MASTER file opens a new Untitled/Unsaved file containing all the information included in the MASTER (Buy-in, addons, rebuys, rounds, layout, etc.). As a bonus, we should be prompt to name and save that file upon opening it and be able to pre-define a default naming scheme for our tournament files (Like: Date_League_Season)

Suggestions / Crash on Auto-Save
« on: February 22, 2018, 05:28:01 PM »
Hi Corey,

I believe you once said that you would think about adding "Templates" to TD where tournaments, with all their presets, could be open as a new untitled document and had to be given a name prior o be saved...

Personally, I can't hardly wait for that but in the meantime, would it be possible to address the application crash bug when TD attempts to auto-save a read-only document.

Currently, I am using read-only tournament files to ensure that my various tournament "profiles" do not get lost due to a missed step from the tournament director. (ie. Open the files, save it as a new name, start registering people...). The problem here is when the "save as..." part is skipped, TD will crash when attempting to auto-save the tournament. Could it be made so TD checks for that and simply warns me instead of crashing? This would save me a lot of grief...

TIA

Help Me / Re: Out of Reach Buttons
« on: February 21, 2018, 11:30:55 AM »
Hi Corry,

that was me on another account (my client's)...

they are using version 3.4.2 and the "Layout properties" I was talking about is the popup window you get when you select "x properties" on a layout item where you get the property sets on the left and the attributes on the right (sorry that was the best name I thought of fro that window since it changes for every layout item). In any case, I can only see the top row of buttons under the "property sets" pane...

I will try your solution but I later realize that I could use the "down arrow" to force scroll the window's contents so all is good.

Strange that no vertical scroll bar appears though.

TIA

Help Me / Re: Final Table with 9 Players
« on: May 01, 2017, 12:59:52 PM »
Actually. if he wants to ONLY have his final table at 9 than he just can wait for his tournament to go down to 18 players (at which point TD will urge you to put 9 players on your last 2 tables) and make the empty seats unavailable, or delete them, on each table.

Help Me / Re: Two Displays
« on: April 27, 2017, 01:41:24 PM »
First of all, you need to configure your display monitors as you want them to work,

Right-click on your desktop and select Screen Resolusion. There you will be able (if your second screen is correctly connected to your PC/Laptop) to set the second display as ans EXTENSION of your current one or as a DUPLICATE/MIRROR. EXTENSION is your friend here. Please take note the actual resolution of your second screen

Once that is done, go to TD's Display Preferences and click on the "Move and Size Game Window to Extended Display" (You might have to entered the screen resolution values of your second screen noted in step 1)

Under the preferences tab, look for Display Preferences on the left side list, once there you will find the "Move and Size to Extended Display" on the bottom right of the  screen

General Discussion / Re: Rebuys?
« on: April 03, 2017, 10:27:40 PM »
Hi Corey,

of course you could, however if your purses are calculated based on the number of entries than your players have ground to feel being cheated out of money...

  • 49 entrants + 12 rebuys normally produce 5 purses.
  • 49 entrants + 12 re-entries would normally produce 7 purses.

When i run re-entry tournaments I have my SCREEN display the "number of entries" as (entries + rebuys) and set the purses accordingly.

Before that we simply created duplicate entry of our players as needed (i.e. Player Name and Player Name #2)
