New Guy and Beta
« on: September 02, 2010, 08:10:21 AM »
Corey, I'm a new guy on your site and haven't tried your product yet. It looks to be what I need, but one thing was missing that I couldn't find if it was there or not... Can I post an advertisement in the middle of the pages that flip through (ex: Clock Page, Blinds page, Clock Page, Average Chips page, Clock Page, Advertisement, Clock page, ect...) ?

I'm starting a local bar tourney with support from a local casino and both have asked for an add page to be displayed during the weekly tourney.

Another question: How long does the Beta version work? I'd like to throw down some testing before I take it to the Bar League and not know what the hell I'm doing. This way I can evaluate it and see if it's the fit for me before paying for the full version.

Glych - I can't speak for the advertisement portion, but as far as beta, here it is:

It's supposed to work just like the regular release. However, since it is Beta, there will be some bugs - some known, some not known. Corey requests that if you find a new bug, that it would be posted in the Beta testing forum, so that he can be aware. Presently, we're on 2.6.b2, with b3 being close to being released for testing. There are some things slightly different with the interface in b2, and there's some easier ways to do some stuff with b3. The most important things would be staying the same, however.

2.6 beta (2 or 3) include the 30 day evaluation period the same as the current version 2.5.11 does.

Banners can be displayed in advertisment form on your tournament clock, If you want you can send me your screen and your banners and I can muster up a basic version and then you can build it up from there.

Yep, the beta is really just like any other version.  It has a 30-day evaluation period and if you have a license key, you can register it move it into licensed mode.

Some beta products do have a specific lifespan, and will automatically stop working past a certain date.  This product will not.  Technically, you can use it for as long as you like.  But as Magic_fubu said, it's going to have some bugs, so I wouldn't recommend it.  Once the final 2.6 version is released, it would be advisable to move up to it.

There are plenty of ways to add advertising.  You can use banner sets to rotate between simple image file ads, or insert ads directly into the layout, or use the screen sets to insert full page ads.

You'll have to get a little familiar with the Layout section, but there are plenty of people here, myself included, that can help.

I regularly use ads in my layouts. It is possible to insert flash animations into the layouts and from there, sky is the limit. I have posted a few times here asking for help on embedding .swf files into the layouts and Corey helped out with the HTML.
Have fun and enjoy probably the most powerful poker clock available!
