Title: Will installing the newest version write over my current season in 2.2.2?

Will it install to a new folder called TournamentDirector25 or overwrite whatever current version you have installed?

Depends on how you install it.  You are allowed to select the folder in which to install the program, but it should by default select the folder in which you already have the TD installed, in effect upgrading your current installation to the version you are installing.

But this will not affect any data.  Your tournaments, preferences, and database will not be modified in this process.

Something went screwy yesterday.  Right before our weekly Fri tourneys, I upgraded my SW version from 2.4.1 to 2.5.1. The second that I did that, it failed to recognize all of my older .tdt files.  I am using Vista Home and when I viewed the directory in an explorer window, the .tdt files are there but TD would not "see" them when I try and do a "load" tournament.  I went back to my most current back up and luckily was able to restore most of my data and preferences but TD still does not recognize those older .tdt files.  Is this a compatibility problem?  In the past when I upgraded to a new version, all of my files were still there and nothing changed.  I really did not think that there would be a problem, ergo I did not make a backup before upgrading to 2.5.1 (stupid me!).

At any rate, I have tried to review some of the bug posts and other documentation but I have not been able to find anything on my particular problem.  Any idea as to what is happening and a possible fix or workaround?  Thanks in advance!

Ok, so something else strange just happened.  I tried to reload the tournament that we played last night and all of the data for it is now gone.  I wanted to review the players page/tab for points and prizes paid out and all of that data is gone.  But when I filter the single tournament from the stats page all of the information is there.  I am confused.  Prior to 2.5.1, when I would load a past tournament, I could still see the player page/tab data and it would still be intact.   I didn't see anything on this in the Change Log.  Am I going crazy or something?

I suspect you are suffering from the "in Vista 'Program Files' is not where you think it is" syndrome.  Some versions of Vista, apparently, redirect programs into thinking that the "Program Files" area is somewhere else.

Take a look at this topic and see if it helps: http://thetournamentdirector.net/forums/index.php?topic=803.0

Installing the software (upgrading) will never delete any files, so your database, saved tournaments, etc, are safe (somewhere).
