General Discussion / Re: Automatically seating players
« on: August 29, 2015, 10:33:36 AM »
I still wish there was an option for auto seating during buy-in to seat each player at the next open seat at each table, e.g. buy-in 1 gets table 1, seat 1. Buy-in 2 gets table 2, seat 1. Buy-in three gets table 3, seat 1. Buy in 4 gets table 1, seat 2, etc. This keeps tables balanced so that in say a 30 person tournament you can start on time with balanced tables and as those 4-5 late folks that show up will continue to get seated in balanced tables. Right now I have to do that manually since TD wants to put everyone at table 1 as they buy in.

I have been thinking about this some more and another workaround would be, lets says you have 30 players and 3 tables, and you figure 5 late arrivals. Before you start buying in players make seats 9 and 10 unavailable at all tables (that gives you 6 seats for late arrivals). At this point you can start buying in players and let TD auto random seat as they buyin. Once you get 24 player bought in you can open seat 9 at all tables and continue buying in players at as they arrive, once those seats are filled then open seat 10 at all tables and continue buying in players. This would keep the tables balanced and still random seat all the ontime players.

But I do wish the there was an option to keep the tables balanced as players buyin, several of us know ahead of time how many total tables we will have.

Hope this helps.

Chuck

Sounds like the same thing I was asking for in this post.

Suggestions / Re: Color Code Players

So if I add some flair (could be color or some icon next to their name) to a player in my database, I assume they always have that flair (across tournaments).

That is the way I would like to see it.

For me my main thought is to use it on the Tables tab (including the list of unseated players on the right), I have several related players and want to make sure they start the tourney at different tables. It's getting harder and harder for me to remember all of the relations but if I can go in and color code them once that would be great. I also like mcfojd's idea of marking known late arrivals which would help for seating on the Tables tab to keep the tables balanced at the start of the tourney. I would think the option to show the category/flair/whatever would be good on the following tabs: Players, Tables. Layout, Database, & Stats tabs.

It would be nice for several reason to have the option to color code players, either be able to change the color of their name or have the option to show a dot beside their name and be able to change the color.

Specifically on the Tables Tab.

Beta Testing / Re: 3.4 beta 1
« on: July 10, 2015, 10:02:25 PM »
Great responses everyone.  Thank you!

Seitz333: the <currenttime> layout token, in 3.4.b1, displays by default in 24-hour mode.  Previously it would display based on the "Use 24-hour clock" preference.  In 3.4.b1 it simply defaults to 24-hour mode.  You can work around this issue by specifying 12-hour mode in the layout token, like this: <currentTime format="12-hour">.  It will be fixed (work like it used to) in the next beta version.  So change it, or hang tight until the next beta.  Either way thanks for the info!

Hey Corey, I am specifying 12-hour mode in the layout token, and it will still only displays 24-hour mode.

Only thing I noticed is on my layout I use <currentTime> and it will only show 24hr time, it is set to use 12hr in the token options, was working fine before the upgrade. From other posts this is opposite to what people were seeing. Am I missing something? The 24hr option in preferences is NOT checked.

Suggestions / Seating Players and Balanced Tables
« on: April 08, 2015, 01:42:28 AM »
About 30 min before my players arrive I setup a tourney with the expected players (30-40) using 4 tables. I usually have about 4 sets of players that I want to have start the tourney at different tables because they are brothers or husband wife etc. I manually seat them randomly at different tables before buying them in (using all 4 tables). What I would like for the TD software to do is as I buy in each of the remaining 30ish players is randomly seat them BUT keep the tables balanced based on the number of tables being used. Reason is I get a few late arrivals and I don't want to start the tourney with unbalanced tables and have to manually move someone before the tourney starts. Make sense?

Suggestions / Addition To nextbreak Token
« on: February 18, 2015, 05:55:20 PM »
Would it be possible to add the attribute in the <nextbreak> token to specify the break number(s)? I want to know the amount of time until break #3 & #6, I don't care about breaks 1,2,4,5.

Thanks,

Chuck

Suggestions / Re: 2 Questions - Tables Tab Display & Custom Layout

Thanks Corey!

1. Scrolling the mouse takes care of the problem

2. One of the default tags that Dreamweaver puts in an HTML document is <title></title> . It's not used in this case so I removed it and all is good.

Thanks,

Chuck

That is awesome!  I think that if you could view the compiled states (total winnings, total take, etc) when you click through to a player's stats, that would be of interest as well.  Very, very cool!

Thought about that but I'm afraid there would be some people that would not like it to show how much $ they are a loser, I may do a top 10 page that show the top players???

Suggestions / 2 Questions - Tables Tab Display & Custom Layout
« on: February 15, 2015, 11:09:40 AM »
I have 2 different questions.

1. On the Tables tab if I have the screen Maximized and I right click on an unseated player to randomly seat them, the dialog box is halfway off of the screen and I cant read all of the text in the options window. Can the dialog box that pops open be moved to the left so that it is fully visible when the screen is maximized? This is more of a suggestion...

2. On the Layout Tab I created a Custom Screen Control, I selected HTML as type. The screen displays and works fine but in the upper left corner in small text it is pulling info from the Game Tab, specifically what is in the Event Name box. Is there a way to remove this?

Thanks,

Chuck

General Discussion / Stats Geeks, Database Guru's, Webmasters In Here!
« on: February 15, 2015, 12:50:29 AM »
Hi All,

I decided to change over my website and start using some dynamic pages via a database for tourney results and player stats. Basically I export data from TD into CSV files (from the players tab & database tab). I then open the CSV files in Excel and make a few changes and add 3 new columns, then append it to existing tables in my database. For the database I'm using MS Access 2007 (.accdb) . I have used MySQL and postgresql but I think Access will do fine.

Take a look and let me know what you think. I have all of my players listed but so far I have only uploaded 5 of about 55 tourney results. Tell me what other stats you think people would like to see. Also let me know if there might be an easier way to update the database. After each new tourney I will need to update the players list if there are any new players, and I will need to upload the new tourney results.

From the dropdown boxes make your selection, if you select a player that has not played in a tourney yet you will get an error until I update the database with the results, I plan to try and finish all of the tourneys this coming week.

Suggestions / Re: Status Updates Feature Requests

Ok I found the title token and the description token but I do not see the rankings token or the rankings data listed in the status updates file that is output from the data sent to my web server. Do I have an old file in the TD software folder that does not send the rankings info?
