URGENT!!! Need HELP ASAP... Thanks!
« on: March 28, 2014, 04:45:40 AM »
I have a new laptop with windows 7 and when I set up my tournament and try to save it in the "save as" the box blinks but don't ask me were to save it.  The "save icon isn't even highlighted.  When I go to shut it down it ask if I want to save the changes and I say yes.  I go back and load it the "load button blinks but won't load anything.  Can someone help with this?

Sticky topic right at the top of this forum: http://www.thetournamentdirector.net/forums/index.php?topic=4343.0

To save you the hassle of digging through that long topic and its replies:

- Don't know what is causing the problem at this time.  It has to do with a Microsoft control the TD uses to access file dialogs (and color and font dialogs).  Not specifically a TD bug.
- Most successful solution is to "roll back" Internet Explorer to a previous version.  I've not heard of this happening with anything earlier than IE 10.

To roll back Internet Explorer:

(1) Click on the "Start" button and type "Programs and Features" in the search box
(2) Click on the "View installed updates" in the left pane of the menu
(3) Go over to the "Uninstall an update" screen and scroll down to the "Microsoft Windows" section
(4) Select Internet Explorer 10 or 11 and click "Uninstall"
(5) Restart your PC

Hopefully that will fix the issue for you.  If you're feeling brave, you can upgrade to the version of IE you were using before you rolled-back.  Many users have reported the problem didn't return after doing this, but your mileage may vary.

Other possible culprits:

- Internet Explorer add-ons.  You can try disabling those if rolling back doesn't help.  Here's a page with steps on how to disable add-ons for most versions of IE: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/manage-add-ons#ie=ie-11

- Virus or other malware.  I recommend running a scan using more than one malware scanner.  Here are some free anti-malware programs that are highly recommended by security specialists:

Microsoft Security Essentials: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/security-essentials-download
Malwarebytes Anti-Malware: http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free/
