General Discussion / Re: Need a Website for my tournament.

I am working on a site that allows automatic uploading of data from TD.  www.shark-stats.co.uk - go to the demo link for an overview.

Hi Skelly - your new site is exactly why I'm trawling through the TD boards today....
How's it going?

I've looked over the demo and I like what I see.

I've been over all the others (pokerDIY, statsgenie etc) and they are just not quite user friendly enough.
The one thing that's putting me off yours at the minute is the price (I know, I know every one wants everything for free...)
It just seems a little expensive for my needs - I only have 25-30 players.
Maybe you could offer different prices for different size databases?

Just a thought - I'll be keeping my eye on this one

General Discussion / Re: Cutting the Deck

Nice one - It helps!

We had murder with it on Monday night and I don't want to be put in that situation again.
We're still a relatively small (30-50) Tourney and the buy-ins are small, so usually - It's quite friendly.

I've put a rule in place that the dealer shuffles and Right MUST cut. I considered left of dealer shuffling but it could cause some confusion with some of our players

Whats the ruling on this guys?

Self dealt tourney tonight - 2 guys are arguing like mad!

1 - Do you have to cut the deck if its offered?
2 - If you don't want to cut the deck, should it be offered to anyone else?

I ruled that it's always been an option in our game - not a must - and it shouldn't be offered to anyone else. Did I do the right thing as I'll be getting quized next week!
Should we be doing something different?

Cheers

Beta Testing / Re: High CPU Usage
« on: January 09, 2008, 09:36:47 AM »
Hi DragonII,

I tried that but it didn't make much difference. Reading other posts, It's the clock that eats the CPU.

My laptop is old - might have to stick with 2.43 :(

Suggestions / Ideas for slower computers
« on: January 07, 2008, 08:28:48 AM »
Hi Corey,

Couple of thoughts / sugestions regarding slower computers.

From what I can gather, the reason most of the older computers running TD run slow, is due to Internet Explorer re-rawing the clock.
I know you can set the clock to not display seconds which helps. Would it be possible to add an option to only display the last 59 seconds of a round and also drop the 0

i.e. instead of 00:00:59 - display :59

I'm only asking as my wife has vitoed a new laptop!

Cheers Richard

Sorry, the 4 clock thing is a new table I'm building with a monitor in the middle. Thats not our normal template or the one that we had problems with beta testing on the 19th December.

I've reattached new screen shots:

single screen on clock
single screen on seating chart
dual screen on single clock
dual screen on seating

I've also just rechecked the CPU usage running 2.42 and thats around 50% with the clock displayed and 30% on the seating chart.

My laptops not the best but it's a clean install with nothing on it other than TD. I'm going to try it on my home PC tomorrow. I have a dual core AMD 6000+ with dual screen to my TV so I'll see what it runs like on a better processor.

I've been after a new laptop for a while, this might be the excuse I'm looking for...;)

Beta Testing / High CPU Usage

Hi Correy,

I've just had a chance to look at the Beta 2 and I've managed to recreate the conditions when TD slows right down.
I'm running a test tournament now and as soon as I busted someone out my laptop has slowed.
I've screen dumped the task manager - anything else you need to see?

Richard

BTW, The fan has just come on on my laptop (which I have never noticed before) I think my PC is crashing due to the processor overheating because it's running TD at 90-100%

Laptop is a

Acer Travel mate
Mobile intel celeron
1.33Ghz
256 ram

*EDIT* With the clock paused, the cpu drops to 50-60%

I can confirm Bugs 2,3,4 and 5 from The_Duke's post on my system.

We only use one main screen on our tourneys so I guess thats why it didn't refresh.

Right - I see, that is strange.

Just the bustout dialog opened on the secondary display.
I did use the 'move' function and I dont recall there being a problem.

"Open dialogs on Main screen" checkbox was checked.

I've just ran the Tourney again and everyone busted out fine - with no lagging.

It's not an exact like for like test as I'm running the extended desktop on a monitor - not multiple TV's. Not sure if that will make a difference though.

I'm back at the venue on the 27th so I'll run a test Tourney again then, under the same conditions.

Hi Corey, It really wasn't a problem - I'd made a copy of the directory before I upgraded so it was a simple rename job.

With regards to the issues...
1) Our screen setups are exactly the same. Extended desktop - we just run through a splitter to send the extended desktop to 3 TV's.
2) Bustout dialogue box opened OK - but it just displayed 'working' for long periods - 20-30 seconds - which got longer each time we busted someone out - until it crashed.
3) Time left for re-buy - I meant 20 minutes from round 4 start - You're right that players have 30 minutes to re-buy. Perhaps I need 'playing time left for re-buys' (minus the break) Is this possible? It's just that when I shout 20 minutes left for re-buys - the screen actually says 30min - confusing for some of our players.
4) Setting maximise - not a problem - just being a little picky!

It didn't go too badly - we lost 10 minutes while I messed about, but we had it back up and running at the start of round 4.
It just made me realise that I'm glad I don't have to do it with a pen and paper anymore!

I like Beta Testing things - I'm a commissioning engineer for the car industry so I guess it's in my blood.

Looking forward to another bash.

Richie
