Title: A few "simple" things, please
Post by: pmcotter on November 01, 2006, 01:51:08 PM
Every non-programmer thinks their request is easy but here it is anyway.  I would like to see an option to have the players name and/or nickname on the seating chart.  The option part probably puts this beyond easy and simple so I would prefer to see both name and nickname if there is no option.  The reason being is that my tournaments are open and I have players sign-in as "F-Bomb", "Bad Beat", etc. and I would like to let the players know the real names that go with the nickname.  I get many more repeat players when they start to know each other and the nicknames stimulate the conversation only when they know that person's real name.

FYI - I use a large screen TV and start with the list format on the seating chart.  I switch to the table format when it appears most of the players know which table is theirs.  I tried to use a fancy text format but had to switch back to the Arial font so the players could read it on the TV.  They still struggle with the list format beacuse the Table and Seat number ar so far to the right of thier name so here is another request.  Could the ......'s on the list formatted seating chart be replaced with an alternating bar style or the space between the name and seat assignment be drastically reduced.

One last thing - Can anyone recommend a site for HTML text formatting?  I want to enlarge the footer on the seating chart.

Great job, Corey!  Thanks!

Preferences Tab -> Name Format

There you can specify the formatting of player names, selecting from one of a number of predefined formats.  It's actually fairly easy to add new formats to this, so if you've got a preference that isn't listed, request it.  I don't want the list to become overwhelming, but so far I haven't had any requests for additional formats.

I'll add your "....s -> alternating colors" request to the to-do list.  Seems reasonable.

If you're looking for help on HTML, just google "HTML tutorial" or "HTML reference".  You'll get an amazingly large number of hits (not always good, but in this case there are tons of tutorials and help/reference guides out there).

http://www.html-reference.com/FONT.htm describes the font size attribute (7 possible sizes).

I often use the relative font size attribute.

The default font size is "3", but since I am not sure what might be already set up in an html document I will just use:

<font size="+1"> text that I want a little bigger </font>

Other html tag info can be found at the home page of the site above:

Always handy to have the following special characters :):

Character Entity Description
&spades; black spade suit
&clubs; black club suit
&hearts; black heart suit
&diams; black diamond suit
