Help Me / Re: Problem with TD speed!
« on: October 16, 2007, 08:34:26 PM »
You may want to scan these pc's for spyware and viruses.  I have seen machines grind and grind only to find them wrapped up with spyware.  Ad-aware on download.com works great and it is free.

Templates, Layouts and Sounds / Running TD on Plasma or LCD
« on: August 22, 2007, 01:28:14 PM »
I am in the process of building a poker room in my bonus room.  I am a long time user of TD and was wondering how to use this in conjunction with plasma or LCD TV's.  I am pretty sure that I am going to put a TV in each corner of my room and I wanted to make sure I ran the correct cables before installing the drywall so I can display TD on them.  I have read some posts in this forum that talks about using a monitor splitter/extender and monitor cables.  Do all newer plasma and LCD TV's have the correct connections on the back of them?  Any advice will be greatly appreciated!!   ;D

???  I just don't get it?  There seems to be a lot of interest in the sharing of layouts, but no one wants to ACTUALLY share their layout.  Several users that have posted jpeg's have been asked to share their layout, but they evidently are not interested in doing so.  I guess I was naive to think that TD users would be willing to share their talents with others.   ???

General Discussion / Re: Need Help W/Poker League Bylaws

Wow  :o  You have put a lot of thought in to this!  I must agree with Phaze....your buyins and payouts are too low.  These low buyins encourage CRAZY play because the players can't lose much money.  I would suggest raising the buyins, which in turn, would allow you to raise the pay out structure.  The quality of your games will be much better and your rake will be virtually the same because the higher buyins will produce the same money even though your turnout may be a little lower.  I would compare this to playing with "play" money online.....people play completely different when they have nothing (or little) to lose.  Just my thoughts.....

Corey,

Where do we stand on making a "Template Gallery" topic heading on the forums page?  Maybe if you put that up and explain what it is for, then maybe people will start posting their .tlo files.  I think the interest is there.....

Great idea Corey!  Hopefully this will prompt more involvement from the guys out there with great template layouts.

Maybe Corey can shed more light on this topic, but here is what I did:

Open TD and load one of your tournaments (click on Load in the Games tab).  Press F2 or click on the Tournament box to open the tournament page.  Press the number “1” to go to the main page (just in case you have a pre-tournament screen).  Press the “Print Scrn” button on your keyboard.  Open Paint and click on Edit…Paste…File…Save As…name your file…hit the drop down box beside of “Save as type” and select JPEG…change the location (save in) to your desktop.

Come back to this forum and click on “Additional Options” below the text box and “Browse” to the desktop (or other location) where you saved your JPEG template.

You can also post your template file or wait to see if someone wants a copy by clicking on “Additional Options” again and browsing to c:\program files\the tournament director 2\templates\YourTemplateName.tlo  OR  c:\program files\the tournament director 2\saves\YourSavedTournament.tdt.

Most people with high quality graphic heavy templates know how to do this stuff.  Hopefully this will help the ones that don’t.

??? ???  Wow.......kind of disappointed that no one attempted to share their templates.  I guess the users want to keep their graphics unique.  I really thought this would take off, especially with all the scattered discusions about this topic.   ???  ???

Based on comments from TenPercenter and Bojan1983, I am not the only one that would love to see a gallery of TD user templates.  Hopefully this thread will start the ball rolling.  Please post your layout and any ideas and designs that you would like to share.  It is obvious that many of the TD users are talented by looking at their layouts.  This thread could help the rest of us catch up and learn from past mistakes of others.  Please save your template file (so users can download them) along with a jpeg file so you can see it in the forum.  Thanks!!!

Templates, Layouts and Sounds / Re: The WSOP Layout

That is exactly what I was doing.   :-\  I was confusing the "bustedout" token with the "type" function of the <tdbutton>.  Sorry for the mess up!  Thanks for the help!!!

I may be way off here, but I thought I understood it.   ???  When I create a button, I have to use some type of code to tell the button what to do when it is pressed.  For example, in the code example you gave me a few posts ago, the stuff in between the fist set of " " tells the button what to do.  I hit your drop down list of tokens to give me the code for the buttons I wanted:   Add Round ("nextround"), Rebuy ("rebuy"), etc.  Your drop down list has "bustedout" for Busting out a player I would assume.  When I used this code for my button, it didn't do anything when I pressed it.  I had to type in "bustout" instead.  Does that make any sense, or am I way off base?

General Discussion / Re: TD vs another software
« on: June 18, 2007, 07:50:57 PM »
If current user opinions mean any thing to you.......... I would highly reccomend TD for home and commercial use.  I personally can run a tournament in a more professional manner using TD than any tournament I have played in with name brand casinos.  This software provides almost any thing you could ever want.  And.....if it doesn't have it, Corey (the owner/writer/customer support/sales) will often add it if you ask.  You can take $1 out of 30 pots (about an hours worth of playing) and pay for this software.  You will not regret it!   8)

Thanks Corey!  That was pretty easy.

I think your "bustedout" token should be "bustout".  I could not get my "Bust Out Player" button to work with the "bustedout" token, so I decided to try "bustout" instead and that seemed to fix the problem.  I am not too keen on HTML..... how can I darken up the font?  I see you have your example set to "true".  What are some other choices?

Corey,

Adding buttons to your layout is a great way to enhance TD.  How do you put the buttons side by side at the bottom of the layout.  Mine are adding on top of each other?

Suggestions / Re: What's Missing
« on: June 08, 2007, 10:44:57 AM »
I think all "home" tournaments have the same problems with several people being late every week.  It really isn't fair for the masses to have to wait for a few that always come in late.  We fixed the problem by announcing all players that were present and bought in by 7:45 for our 8:00 tournament would receive an extra $500 in chips (meaning you would start with $2500 rather than $2000 just for being on time).  Amazingly........this fixed our problem almost immediately.  We still have a few (very few) that drag in late, but 95% now show up on time.  We also allow call ins, but if they don't show, then they have to pay that buy in amount the next week (along with the current week buy in) or they are not allowed to play.
