Help Me / Re: Bounty?
« on: June 25, 2007, 09:06:28 AM »
A Bounty in the world of poker is used for a little side prize.

If you do a $20 Buy-in with $5 Bounty (Most places I go to make it optional).  You get what's called a bounty chip.  You keep the bounty chip in front of you,  it doesn't have any value except if you go all-in you place your Bounty chip in too.  If someone takes you out they get your bounty chip.  At the end of the night you cash in all the bounty chips you earned.  In this case if you took out 3 people you would get $15.

Does that make sense to you?

General Discussion / Re: How do you handle a slow player?
« on: June 22, 2007, 07:59:06 AM »
Cruise,

We use the TD and have display it on an large Plasma on the wall so everyone can see it.  It's never super official but you know who you slow players are so you can just look at the clock and note it when the action arrives at them.  I usually would just say 10 seconds left, Players would mind each other too as I couldn't be at every table.  I never had to auto fold someone and if they need a legitimate chip count then I don't run them out the hand either.  It is just really a good way to keep the hands moving.

Hope that helps.

We used to have several players that would take forever.  Lets face it the longer each person takes, the fewer hands per hour.  IMO the more hands per hour(blind) the more skill there is as you can play more disciplined poker.  We introduced a 30 second rule, no one has to call clock, who ever wants to be that person anyways.  Understand that some decisions are difficult you we offer a one time additional bank of 30 seconds that can be used at any time.

Everyone got used to it and it works great.

General Discussion / Re: TD vs another software
« on: June 21, 2007, 09:28:32 AM »
After short googling i found some Dr.Neau Tournament manager, is TD better and why? Any experience with any other similar software?

You may can view a short review of Poker Tournament Software.  The review highlights the TD and it is an unbiased honest review of some current software available.

option to rake bounty (x amount from each chip sold) to create a prize pool used to put a price on the tournament winners head for next game.

i.e.  buy chips sold for $5+$1=$6, pay out $5 per chip won, keep $1 per chip to create prize pool.

As you suspected you enter this information manually.  You Say you had 10 players all doing a bounty.  You charged $6 ($1 of which was a rake)  Say you also wanted the 1st Place persons entire bounty to get raked.

You would enter a total of $15 in the Manual Rake area on the Tournament Setup Screen

Well I believe the hit should go to the person with the Most Chips there.  And if by some chance they have the same amount it could go to the first caller.

Do you use bounties in accordance with points?

7. To be able to assign a (Player Number) to each player instead of having to look through a data base with more than 500 players.

We had a similar problem our System I actually started Exporting the RSVP and just used the Email Address as an ID field.  It's great news that there will be an actual ID field

Manza,

I used to run a couple tournament a week that had between 20 and 30 players.  We would use the laptop to buy the players in at the main level of the house. I would have everyone hang out in the living room then about 5 minutes before Shuffle up and Deal I would seat everyone.

Once I did that I would save the Tournament Director File to My Network drive.  Turn Off the Laptop then Go Upstairs and Load the file from the Network and be ready to go.  I don't know if something like this would work for you but with the Hotkeys the only other thing I really had to do was bust and Move.

General Discussion / Re: a almost tragic occurance.
« on: March 16, 2007, 12:44:12 PM »
I once lost tournament results for a game that had over 30 people in it.  This was a league event so points counted.  Just realize it's a game of poker, not a game of life.  I asked everyone to assist in recalling other peoples finish.  It worked our, or so I think,  but in the scheme of things it wasn't really tragic :)

I hear you. I've been in IT professionally since '98 for the first 6 month I had a list of 40-50 people I would call each week to see who was coming.  It started taking 2 hours just to figure out who was coming....  I was like there has to be a better way!   Let me know how it works out for you.

Tandemrx,

I would suggest going back into Photoshop and put numbers on each seat on your background image.  Is that what you are looking to do?
