Help Me / Re: No auto player movement screen on break
« on: January 03, 2012, 06:00:44 PM »
thanks Corey!

For the most part this worked. Out of 15 or 20 table balance suggestion tests that were triggered during a break period, the player movement screen failed to appear only twice. I'm still trying to determine root cause of those failures. On both failed scenarios it appears that the player movement did launch but failed to display properly - That probably doesn't make much sense. Here is a better description -

Failure 1 -
The player movement screen flashed quickly in the background when the player movement time condition (45 seconds) had been reached. (meaning that I actually saw the player movement screen very briefly while the screen sets were suppose to be changing).

Failure 2 -
This may be hard to believe, but the player movement screen does appear, the only problem is that it's a fraction of the expected size. Check out the attachment.... the little dot in the middle of the screen is not normally present - and I am sure it is the player movement screen. (PS. I do not have screen transitions enabled)

I will provide greater details once I've more thoroughly tested and gathered more detail
Thanks,
Brian

Help Me / No auto player movement screen on break
« on: January 02, 2012, 06:57:47 PM »
Hi All,

I have created a screen set that includes only the "player movement screen" with the following associated conditions

(time - lastplayermovetime) < 45

Each time the Table Balancing suggestion is accepted the player movement screen is automatically displayed for 45 seconds which is great. However this process does not work if the tournament is on a scheduled "break". The bust out works and the table balancing action works fine but the player movement screen is not displayed.

Anyone know how I can get the auto player movement screen to work while on a break?

Thanks,
Brian

Help Me / Re: Table / Seating Receipt to an Epson TM model printer
« on: December 28, 2011, 09:42:30 PM »
Hi Jody,

As always, thanks so much for your help! It appears that the receipt and player movement HTML files that you attached contain only the TD default values. Did you attach the correct files? I assume you would have needed to make some alternations to these files to customize your receipt printing?

Thanks again,
Brian

Help Me / Table / Seating Receipt to an Epson TM model printer
« on: December 28, 2011, 08:46:09 PM »
Wondering if anyone is using an Epson TM88 thermal printer to print table / seat receipts?

I use a barcode scanner to register players and have been printing receipts for a while, however I have never gotten the formatting just right.... at the present time it looks just "okay".

The seating receipts in the you tube video found in the TD post below are perfect in my opinion - looks great!

http://www.thetournamentdirector.net/forums/index.php?topic=3159.0

I've struggled to improve my receipt formatting by altering my PlayerMovement.html file. Wondered if anyone is already printing to an Epson TM model printer and wouldn't mind sharing your HTML file that controls the formatting - a good example would help me out tremendously

Thanks very much,
Beaker

Hi fperes,

I'm not a USB expert but here are my thoughts.

I don't believe that a "virtual com" is necessarily something you can acquire for use with your scanner. It really will depend on how your scanner drivers handle the device. Some USB device drivers will setup a virtual com port on your system to support the interface, others will not. You will need to check within your "device manager" to see if a virtual com port has been added. If you are unsure; simply unplug and re-connect your USB scanner with the device manager open, you will then be able to see how your system is designating the device (as a virtual com port or not).

If a virtual com port has been added, you can select the "RS232 / Serial" communication option within Twedge and the appropriate virtual com port number.

If a virtual port does not exist you my need to consider buying a serial scanner. OR you can search around for another keyboard wedge application that supports USB (Twedge is just the one that i'm using, I'm sure there are serial other solutions out there). You will likely find the majority of the simple solutions out there support a serial interface, usb will be harder to find.

Hope this helps a bit,
Beaker

I use the software below to interact with my barcode scanner and TD

http://www.tec-it.com/software/data-acquisition/twedge/keyboard-wedge/Default.aspx

It acts as a keyboard wedge. It grabs the scanned data from my serial port and sends it to TD as keystrokes. You can use Twedge to send whatever character you want before the scanned data. I think I send CTRL+B, which is my hotkey for buy-in.

Hope this helps,

Hi Winch,

I am using a serial scanner, so unfortunately I have not experienced the same challenge interfacing my scanner that you are encountering.

You may just need to search the internet for solutions. Perhaps you can find a Virtual USB to Serial driver - I believe you would just need to find a driver or application that will route the USB data from your scanner through a virtual serial port so that Twedge has a connection point.

I often use USB to Serial adaptors as my laptop does not have a serial port. Maybe you can find a serial to USB adaptor??

Help Me / Re: Auto Export
« on: April 26, 2011, 04:02:43 PM »
Hi Timmer,

Thanks for your response. The reason that I'm looking to export the seating chart relates to how I run multiple monitors.

My setup today is basically as follows -

Video Card #1 ------ Monitor 1 (Not a player facing monitor, used only for Tournament setup dialogs)

Video Card #2 ------ Monitor 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 (player facing monitors, used to display the active tournament screen)

I want to add the following (JodiBingo got me thinking about this idea last year) -

Video Card #3 ------ Monitor 7 (Dedicated screen specifically for the seating chart, big monitor in full view of all players)

I do not believe that TD currently allows me to send particular non-active screens (seating chart) to different extended displays - I can only send the current active TD screen to one extended display. I can however, export the seating chart in HTML format and open it in Firefox. I can then send firefox / seating chart to a specific extended display (monitor 7). I can setup Firefox to automatically refresh in predefined intervals. So it was my hope that if I can get TD to auto-export the seating chart then I'd be able to pull off a dedicated display just for the seat chart that would be updated every 15 seconds (or however long I setup the Firefox auto refresh for.

Hope that made sense,
Thanks,
Brian

Help Me / Auto Export

Hi All,

Wondered if it is possible to setup an Event or preference to auto export the seating chart to a pre-defined folder with a pre-defined file-name every the tables are balanced?

Thanks,
Brian

Help Me / Surppress status messages

Does anyone know if there is a way to suppress all status messages once an event message is triggered to display? Once the event message disappears the status messages would be re-enabled.

Thanks!

Suggestions / Re: Auto perform action on table suggestion
« on: March 29, 2011, 01:44:16 PM »
Sounds good, thanks very much!

I don't know why I mentioned the "omit current seat" check box... I don't use it, just trying to confuse myself I guess.

Love the new 2.6 version! Looking forward to adding some new functionality soon...
Thanks again,
Beaker

Suggestions / Auto perform action on table suggestion
« on: March 28, 2011, 09:13:21 PM »
Hi Corey,

This addition to 2.6 was a big help...

- Added a preference to automatically perform an action upon searching within a
player dialog (such as Buy-in Players, Rebuy players, etc).  When this option
is enabled, and a search returns exactly one match, the action is
automatically performed.  This will help to streamline card reader/barcode
  scanner integration

Is there anyway this can also be added to the Table Balance Suggestion dialog? It would be great if the table balance suggestion dialog could also be accepted automatically with (in my case) the "omit current seat" and "open move player window" options checked. Then to really top off this request, it would be great if I could predefine a length of time that the player movement screen would be active (45 second for example).... after this time is reached the system would return to the regular tournament screen.  This request would completely make my tourney a one button effort. I would need only to start the count down clock.... all functions after that would require zero operator intervention.

Hope my description was clear enough,
Thanks,
Brian

Suggestions / Re: iPod remote mouse apps not working
« on: March 26, 2011, 08:35:45 PM »
I may be way out in left field here but.... I've had trouble interfacing a few 3rd party apps with TD on Windows7 in the past, I found that taking the following steps got things working well.

Right click TD icon, go to properties
Click on the Compatibility Tab
Set "compatibility mode" to "Windows XP (service pack 2)"
Set "privilege level" to "run this program as an administrator"
Relaunch TD and try your mouse app again

Like I said, this may not help at all, but pretty easy to try out, certainly can't hurt

Good luck,
Beaker
