screen changing
« on: September 22, 2006, 09:39:38 AM »
Hi Guys

A numpty here with a shout for help.

I have set up 3 screens main, pre and pro, the main is to run throughout the tournament, thr pre is just the seating chart to run before the start and the pro is at the games end, showing the ranking.

When I run a test on these, they are not working, i think its cos the screens are locked, i use ctr L, this unlocks them and they seem to work.
But everytime I reset the tourny they are locked again.
I have tried to save the layouts but when i bring them back in they are locked again.
Is there some way of unlocking them as default ?.

Cheers macacan

You can change the layout to have only the screen you want.

YOURS ARE ROTATING ?.
Before you change anything, just see if there is a lock symbol in the top right corner
of each screen.

If you don't want your screens to change. just delete the others from the screen sets,
Leave yourself with just the one you require.

To prevent the screens rotating, see: http://www.thetournamentdirector.net/faq.html#faq21

macacan: If you lock the screen, it will remain locked, even if you leave the Tournament page and then return to it.  However, any time you reset the layout, load a new layout, load a tournament, reset the tournament, etc, the screen lock will disengage.  Are you seeing different behavior?

Hi Corey

When I reset the tournament, then click on the tournament tab, the first screen I see is my main one, this is not locked
(no lock symbol).
I then pres key 2, this shows my pre tournament page with a closed lock symbol in the top right hand corner.
Same with key 3, this is the pro page this also has the lock symbol.
I have saved this away and re loaded it and these 2 screens are still locked.
I thought there might be somewere that you can swith on and off as default.

Thanks for looking into it for me, and I am sorry if it somethig that I am doing.
I am still learning, So I am still messing about finding a layout that I am realy happy with.
I have put a link on my sight to the TD home page.
I had to think about that for a long time, people are that impreesed with TD that once they download and start using it, I will
no longer be able to impress tham so much. lol.
Keep up the fantastic work. Our tournaments run like clock work now.

When you press a number key (1 through 9), the program switches to the indicated screen and immediately engages the screen lock.  If it did not, then the screen would immediately switch back to the previous screen, since the previous screen is the screen that matches the current tournament conditions.  Therefore, the screen lock is engaged to keep you on the screen that you indicated you wanted to see.  The screen lock will remain engaged until you release it by pressing Ctrl+L, or you load a new tournament, or you load a new layout template.

If you are using, for example, the default layout (Blue and Green), the Pre-Tournament screen is set [conditionally] to display any time before the tournament starts, whether or not you run a countdown.

Thanks for all that Corey.

I run a few test tournaments and everythink was perfect.
It sometimes seems that we are trying to find faults in TD and not appreciating
how good TD actually is, not to mention how good the after sales is.
So a BIG thanks to Corey and keep up the good work.
