Title: Being late ( blinded or not )
Post by: TIMMER on January 22, 2010, 06:40:34 AM
Been doing this since 06 with Cory's help!  with out any real problem until now,   Heres the problem a few people being late wanting to be blinded in, some say take buy-in point away, which is only 1  so ya not much in that, Some say not on time so not in the game,  But a bigger pot is aways good, or not,  Any thought's out there about this   ???

In my game, if I know you are coming and have let me know you are going to be late I will put you in and blind you off.  If you don't show up by the first break the remainder of your chips come off the table and you still owe me the buyin.

Timmer,  as a qualified TD I have various house rules in force depending on the game type and structure.  Most of my small games allow late arrival with registration.  If you are allowing late registration it is normal practice not to blind off from starting stacks however if you only allow "late arrival" (notified before commencment of game) it is normal practice to put the stack out and blind it off.  It is a good idea to have a house rule in force with what type of late you allow and also how late you can be for example I usually allow late registration upto the end of the second blind level and late arrival upto the end of the third blind level.

Not everyone is able to make the appointed time of registration so it is always a good idea to have some flexibility in your game entry, however you should always cover it in your house rules.

Best Regards
Stuart

as a qualified TD

Like your style.

Anyway, our rule is:

Free Entry Games - Players have until the end of the 2nd blind level to enter the tournament.

Cash Entry Games - Players are required to be Bought in (Paid For by someone) by the end of the 2nd blind level.

There are usually a couple of extra chip stacks at empty seats in play to allow for late arrivals until the end of the 1st blind level.

Players arriving during the 2nd blind level (after spare stacks are removed) will be chipped down 500 in tournament chips.

That's how we handle it. So players can turn up late, but are penalised. Cash games they can be later than free, as they are paid for, and no refunds given.
