Title: Trophy Ideas
Post by: MooseWizard on November 29, 2006, 11:18:53 AM
What do you use for trophies?

This is the first year of our league.  At each tournament, I gave the winner a black silicone bracelet (think Lance Armstrong bracelet) that had the four suits and ALL IN on it.  For the championship next week, I have had a titanium bracelet made featuring our logo.

I got it from IronDog Industries (http://www.irondog.us/), and was $19 USD.  These guys were an absolute pleasure to work with.

Post your favorite trophy ideas and links!

just got this for this year's champion.  It's not cheap but definitely worth it, esp. since you can use it as a marker.  It came in better looking than I expected; the picture does not do it justice.

http://www.pokerguard.com/custom-any-pocket-cards-p-39.html

$45 shipped.  I just took the money out of the 1st place prize for the Championship game.

It's pure Silver, so it's not only a great trophy/card marker, but it is actually worth something.

We just finished up our first season in our League and had four trophies awarded.  3 of the trophies looked like this one:
One for "Top Money Winner" (Green), one for "Player of the Year" (Black), & one for "Mr. Consistency" (Red).

For our TOC, we got a big perpetual cup trophy that went to the winner.  His name and the year will be engraved on the base and each year it will pass to a different player.  Here's a pic of the winner and his trophy:
Unfortunately, it wasn't me this year :(

Starting next year, I'm going to be giving each tourey winner one of these pins (the black pin)
Just as an extra little something for the win to brag with, plus we have extra cash since we don't need to re-buy the TOC trophy.

The players loved the trophies and it seemed like some were more interested in winning those than the money!  One player who busted out of the TOC tried to buy his way back in just to win the trophy.  He offered one of the players still in about half of the 1st place prize from his own wallet.  He was half joking, but I think he really wanted to do it.

If you're interested, the small trophies and the pins I got from http://www.trophies2go.com (http://www.trophies2go.com).  The Big Cup I got from http://trophycentral.com (http://trophycentral.com).  Both had excellent service and fast delivery times.

MooseWizard,

Thanks for starting this thread!  After going to customsiliconebracelets.com, I decided to order custom bracelets with Back Door Hold'em printed on them instead of All In    I ordered 50 blue ones to hand out as a Christmas gift to all my players, and ordered 10 orange ones to be given to the people who make the final, year end table.

Then I found this ID Bracelet http://www.stickyj.com/bg1021.html (http://www.stickyj.com/bg1021.html)
at Sticky Jewelry for $26 which I ordered to be given to the season 1 winner.  After engraving costs and shipping, it ended up being $51.85

Thought I would revive this topic, and include the trophies we had last year.

Player of the year:
Was about $45 and worth every penny--beautiful!  I am looking forward to winning this one for myself this year.  As brenner said, the pictures do not do these justice.  From http://www.pokerguard.com/

Champion:
Went a bit over the top with this trophy, but it was a beauty.  Was $75 and a complete custom designed trophy from http://www.besttrophiesonline.com

Also for the champion:
I think we will always do one of these--custom artwork and durable for only $18!  From http://www.irondog.us/

First Out:
Cheap resin trophy.  Cost $15 from http://www.abcgiftsandawards.com/ (They have a decent selection of poker trophies)

This is more of a prize idea than a trophy idea.  I gave the top 3 places the cash (of course) and a subscription to CardPlayer magazine.  They really seemed to like that.  I have also given out card guards and sets of chips.  I am interested to see what others give out.  I like the bracelet idea, but I think the silicone ones have faded away in popularity.  Moose...How did your guys like the metal bracelet?  Any ideas would help.

I agree about the silicone bracelets, and he are not doing that this year.  I won the first one and I like it a lot.  Our winner last year also seemed happy with it.  There are fancier bracelets but I do not think anyone is wearing a bracelet on a regular basis and would rather put the extra money into the prize pool.  However, the card guards get used often so I do not mind spending the extra money on those.

I was originally thinking of doing a custom trophy for our league, but I couldn't really justify the expense, especially when the money would be coming out of the league pot.  So, after much thought, I decided to go with these plaques.  I did the design on Photoshop (it's basically a rip-off of the award that's given to WPT winners), and then just mounted them to a document plaque.  Of course, we also give out the championship bracelet, courtesy of www.pokerbling.com  (http://www.pokerbling.com).

I've been using the TD program for a couple years now. I can't believe that I've never been to this forum before today!

I won a tournament online once (it's actually a weekly series of sorts), and on top of the prize money I also got this bracelet..

** Edit ** I just noticed Scotty's post which references the same bracelet.. My bad  ;D

i went to www.trophypartner.com and got a 8" resin plaque for player of the year and a larger plaque (12" x 9"?) for our main event. I also use www.dyetub.com for certificates for each event winner. It's simple and easy to use, and everyone loves them. I attached a picture, I am at work right now so it is not the best picture of them but you can kind of get an idea. Plus, my poker room is still under construction.

I just ordered bracelets from www.irondog.us

They provide outstanding service!  They worked to make a custom bracelet to match our logo and it shipped today.  I will post a pic once I receive it.

I would highly recommend them for your poker bracelet needs.

I just order my third bracelet from Irondog as well for our 2008 Championship in December.  I told you they had great service!

I have also ordered my other trophies for the year, and I'll post pics and details of all when they arrive.

I've been doing business with Irondog for a coupla years. We have quarterly championships with bracelet winners plus our player of the year. In December, in addition to a bracelet for our Player of the Year,  I'm going to add a trophy from ABC Gifts and Awards (great vendor for ceramic chips, too).

I use TrophyPartner.com for our awards. Next year (since social gambling is illegal in our area, and it's family and close friends anyway) we will have a $1.00 "buy-in" that will go to our "trophy fund", and we can get bigger and better awards for season 2. This past season I only spent $40.00 on 2 awards, but I wanted to spend more. Couldn't do it. So one of our memebrs came up with a buy-in for trophy fund idea and everyone loved it. When that time comes I am sure I will post pictures of those awards, but that's a long time away.

Also very pleased with Iron Dog.  Recently ordered a bracelet and they were very helpful and extremely speedy in service (I think I received it the day after I placed my order  :o).

Just can't beat the service and price.

Picture isn't the greatest - doesn't do it justice.

Here we go!

Champion bracelet, from Irondog.us (http://irondog.us/) -- $18.  As has been stated, excellent product--excellent service.
(http://img236.imageshack.us/img236/577/championbraceletmi6.png) (http://imageshack.us)

Champion trophy, a bit more conservative than what we did last year.  12" metal cup, base cost was about $37 plus a small surcharge for extra engraving and shipping brought the total to $47.75 from Crown Awards. (http://www.crownawards.com/StoreFront/indexmain.html)  Note, there was a blemish on the back of the base of this trophy and they are sending out a replacement to arrive before our event for no additional charge and no questions asked--great service!
(http://img216.imageshack.us/img216/813/championkh8.png) (http://imageshack.us)

Player of the Year award is once again a custom 1 oz silver card guard from PokerGuard.com (http://www.pokerguard.com/custom-rectangle-graphic-protector-p-66.html), and once again it is absolutely stunning.  I am the lucky recipient of this award this year and I could not be more pleased, as I was so impressed with it last year.  $45 plus shipping brings it to $51.95.
(http://img123.imageshack.us/img123/8306/potyvx0.png) (http://imageshack.us)

It is always fun to have a 'First Out' award, and this year I found this amusing bobble horse's rear.  From Trophies2Go.com (http://trophies2go.com/product-exec/product_id/7408/nm/Horses%20Rear%20Bobble%20Butt%20Trophies) and base price was $13.30.  I was quite impressed they could add our logo to the plate for this price.  It is important to note that they have a $15 minimum order requirement and will charge $15 for any order less than that.  However, a quick search of the site revealed a pink 1st out pin for $1.75 that put me over the requirement and I didn't throw money away.  Shipping brought the total to $25.11.

I have been running tournaments for 7 years now at my place.  Have not thought a lot about changing what the winner gets in the Players Points Championship event, but you guys give some great ideas.  Thought I would post my pic for you all to see.  I been working with http://www.abcgiftsandawards.com/ for some time.  Gene is always eager to work with you, no matter how small or large your order is.  he even does specialty chips, which is nice for the monthly winners.  I have found the customer service to be stellar.  [img]

Just finished our first season of S.L.O.P. (Sass's League of Poker).  I went for an unconventional trophy and it went over well with the guys.  The "cups" dance along with the song of your choice (I recorded Kenny Rogers "The Gambler").

Great inspiration! I have seen some very good ideas for my poker league here and I think I will look closer at a bracelet for next season. This season I have rewarded the winner from each game with a badge - the winners will then wear this bagde (or several if he has won more than one game...) at the next tournament.

The badge is made using the attached image, which I sent to a local badge maker.

we've always gone with some standard bracelets.  Our monthly Tourneys are only $10+$1 so our budget isnt anything major.  I've got them from a local place in the mall called "things remembered" http://www.thingsremembered.com Usually costs ~$50 after engraving.  This year it came with a silver box that we also got engraved with the players name leagues name/season.  The fronts of our bracelets have always ready 200X POTY (for 'player of the year') and the league name on the back "Hegenauer Poker League"
