Beta Testing / Re: 3.7 BETA 1
« on: October 16, 2019, 01:18:56 PM »
3. I defined two tables of 9 seats each, then added 6 players to a tournament. Then bought them in with autoseating. and there were 4 at one table, and 2 at another. If it were 3 and 3, that'd be understandable, but all at one table would be preferred.

FYI a workaround I have found to keep the tables balanced at pre-tourney buyin time is lets say you are going to have 40 total players. You create 4 tables of 10. Assuming on average you get 32 players ontime and 8 late arrivals. You would leave 2-3 seats at each table set as unavailable. Only make them available when the late player actually arrives and buys into the tourney. This way when ontime players buyin the tables will be as close to balanced as possible when the tourney starts.

I plan to download the new beta today and do some testing tonight. I will run first live tourney with beta version in about 2 weeks.

Beta Testing / Re: V3.4.1 Black Screen & TD Will Not Reopen
« on: December 12, 2017, 01:27:17 PM »
Yeah I'm not sure what was going on. I thought that after rebooting the computer it would def open. I wanted to put this here in case someone else had the same problem they could see what I did to get it back up and going for the tourney.

Beta Testing / V3.4.1 Black Screen & TD Will Not Reopen
« on: December 06, 2017, 02:18:30 PM »
Had a tourney last night and I received the black screen on a bust out, happens every tourney not usually a problem (annoying) as I just use Task Manager to kill TD and restart. Well I killed TD then clicked on the icon to reload TD. All I got was the spinning arrow like it was loading. Nothing happened and I had to reboot the computer. After reboot I tried again to open TD, same thing spinning arrow. Reboot again, try to open TD again, spinning arrow again. Reboot again and reinstalled same version of TD. I could then open TD and continue the tourney.

Any thoughts?

Suggestions / Re: Add Ability To Adjust An Event Time

Just needing more fine tuned control, I was able to insert the bust outs for the correct sequence but wanted to change the actual times.

Suggestions / Add Ability To Adjust An Event Time
« on: April 09, 2017, 01:04:50 PM »
I would love to be able to adjust Time Stamps for events that have occurred.
At my last tourney the person running the computer did not enter in several bustouts/rebuys correctly and it was a mess, I have fixed it for the most part but would like to change some time stamps.

Thanks,
Chuck

It changes every 40 min. Each level is 20 min, and after 2 levels the tourney pauses for dealer changes.

That's a lot different from my testing, but I'm sure it's valid.  I just took another stab at the memory leak issue, assuming it has to do with screen transitions, and by removing part of the transition code, the memory leak was slowed down in a huge way.  It didn't get rid of it entirely, but it looked pretty promising.  I haven't yet had time to investigate further, but if this doesn't allow me to actually fix it, I might be able to add an option to truly disable screen transitions, and tackle it that way, at least for the time being.

FYI, screen changes always occur using screen transitions, even if they are disabled.  Basically, if you disable screen transitions, it's still the same code path, it's just that the transitions are "instant".  That makes the code easier and more consistent.  I might just code in a separate path that doesn't use the transition code.  Anyway, more investigation is needed...

FYI I ran a tourney on Tuesday and disabled screen transitions and still received the black screen and tourney locked up. Had to quit and restart TD.

Everything went good last night, other than the black dialog screen/TD freezing. This usually happens about 2hrs into the tourney, last night it happened about 30min in (only once). Usually I can just exit TD and restart, last night I had to CTRL+ALT+DEL to bring up Task Manager to close TD, then restart TD.

FYI I ran my monthly tourney last night and had the black screen problem and the program froze and had to force close the program and restart. I know these are known issues but wanted to know if there are any error log file you would like to for me to upload/attach. If so let me know how and I will get them to you ASAP.

Thanks,

Help Me / Re: TOC Setup Starting Stacks
« on: December 31, 2015, 03:44:18 PM »

You can modify a player's Chip Count at any time, even before they are bought-in.  But you can't do it at the time of adding them to the tournament, you have to manually edit the player and set their chip count (or press the Set Chip Counts button on the Players tab).

Remember if you have the "Automatically update players' chip counts" preference enabled, the player's Chip Count will be updated (added to) upon buy-in.

Corey, I adjusted the player chip counts before they bought in. I have the buyin chip amount set to zero. I have the <stack> token on the layout and it shows zero after buying in players with an adjusted chip count, I want to display the average chip stack. Is there a way to do this when using adjusted player chip counts?
Thanks,
Chuck

So, yet another option... How do you qualify your ToC? Points, Wins, Other?
I am curious to know... maybe I should do it differently.   The whole reason I went with points, and then limiting to the top n scores, was because not everyone could make every tournament. If they showed up, and paid, for ~ half the tournaments, then they still had a fighting chance.

Players use their top 8 point scores. Starting stacks are their top 8 scores x 100. I allow any player who has played at least 1 tourney in the current year to play the TOC. All players pay $50 buyin, I also have added money from where I raked $10 from every rebuy throughout the year ($850 for 2015). The points formula is:

Points for playing: 10*(SQRT(n/r))-5
Points for hit: 1.25

Help Me / TOC Setup Starting Stacks

I did not want to hijack the other thread so I started a new one. I too will be having my yearly TOC. I want add players to the tourney (not buy them in yet) but I want to be able to set their starting stacks at the time of adding them to the tourney. Starting stacks are based on their year end points so everybody has a different starting stack. Is this possible or could the feature be added?

Thanks,
Chuck

Help Me / Re: Balancing tables with respect to dealer button position
« on: September 17, 2015, 11:16:16 PM »
If you are using TDA rules (which everybody should...) you should not have this problem. When balancing tables you always move the up coming Big Blind to the worst position at the new table. When breaking tables players assume the seat they given which means they can come into the big blind after just leaving the last table as the big blind or any other position.

I know this is not a software answer but it should take care of the problem.
