Data Stores
« on: October 29, 2018, 01:57:40 AM »
Hi , there I'm Robert.
A little issue that is bugging me a little. I have created a new data store folder and have only the templates, images, saves, etc etc that I use and need in it. However every time I run TD and the default images and templates etc etc get copied to that new data store.

Doesn't matter if I delete them it just keeps happening. I dont really want to delete the originals from the TD directory in case I ever want to use them.

Is there any reason why this is happening?

Hi Robert.
There is a text file that tells TD which files to copy to your data store when you launch TD. You can edit this file and remove all entries that you do not want copied. It has been a while since I have modified mine and can't remember 100% if the one listed below is the right one.
Navigate to your Tournament Director 3 folder on your C drive and in the lib folder you should see a dataStore text file. In that file you can remove all the files you do not want copied to your data store

jodybingo is correct, although it wasn't intended to be something you should modify.  The copying occurs to put updated files into your data store.  It's part of a migration of the TD originally having everything in the Program Files location (including your saved data) to it being in the "Documents" location.  But even now that it's not really necessary to "migrate" that stuff, the included templates have to get copied out to your data store or else they would be far less accessible.

Anyway, you certainly can modify that file to prevent the TD from copying files to your Data Store.  But be aware that any NEW files in an updated version of the TD won't get copied, either.
