Title: Suggestions for Use in Cardroom
Post by: herb on April 30, 2008, 07:11:31 AM
Hello,
I'm working as a Dealer in a Card-Casino, and my Boss now bought the commercial-Version of TTD.

There are some suggestions i have, that would make it easier to use in a professional environment.

Thank you very much in advance, herb

the second point you make on rebuys and add-ons is already a function in the program

In the "Players" tab select the "Track Players" button on the left hand side list of options and then select simple mode, then you can just put in amount of rebuys and add-ons and not select certain players.

That helps a lot!

Note that in "Simple Mode", the TD doesn't keep track of individual players, so it won't seat and move players for you.  Then again, this might be what you were looking for all along...

Well, not really, but we're now simply adding up the add-ons and rebuys in the break, and assign them to random players it's not that much of a problem.

The statistics aren't correct, but they wouldn't be anyway, we'd have to note down, who made a rebuy or an add-on, and that'd too much of a hold-up for the dealers.

Also we kinda found a work-around for the tables-thing, we simply don't care too much anymore. In the first tournaments, we tried to identify the players via the seating chart, but that didn't work out, because the chairs of the empty places at a table were often moved by spectators, so the seat numbers were hard to determine in the tournament. And if you ask a player who just busted out of the tournament for his nickname, he's not very happy. We solved that by giving every player a card with his nickname on it as a receipt for his buy-in and we track them with those cards, problem solved.

So far, we're pretty happy with The Tournament Director now, but I'm sure gonna bug you with some feature requests again soon ;)

Along #1...  Ie semi-automatic movement of  aplayer...

I would love it if TD had the ability to ask what position the busted player was in, and then ask where the button was at on the table being moved from.

In my tourneys we try to maintain position when we move a player

I'd recommend you to balance the tables manually, and then move the player in the "tables" screen by dragging and dropping.
Usually you won't want to stop the tournament just to let TDD make the decisions for you, seems like an unnecessary holdup.

You can set the dealer button, and the TD will attempt to move players with respect to it.  I believe there is an item on the enhancement list for allowing you to set the dealer buttons at the time a suggestion is made.  Currently, you'll have to cancel the suggested move, set the dealer buttons, then tell the TD to suggest again.
