Templates, Layouts and Sounds / Blinds Levels not showing correctly
« on: August 08, 2011, 08:25:37 AM »
The Blinds are not showing on even levels 6,13,20 or 21
They appear OK on all other levels. To get over this i I have now deleted the evens Blinds (property set)
I would like to re-insert them and fix this problem.

So if i add an evens Blinds (property set)
What do i set the settings to. I did have them as:
in the stage - I put During Game[/color
]in the level  - I put any level = even

Done something wrong, but cant see how as it works on all the other levels correctly.

Any ideas please?

Suggestions / Read only
« on: August 05, 2011, 04:19:52 AM »
Is there any to make layouts, chip templates, read only. So that when you save it, a pop up will appear saying some thing like " this layout is read only. to save it you will have to rename it". Or may be save a layout etc. as a template
Think this may be useful.

General Discussion / Calculating the final table
« on: July 11, 2011, 08:30:46 AM »
To calculate what the blinds will be at the final table i use this formula.

Number  of Player  X  Starting Stack) x 1%

Could any one tell me how they calculate what the blinds will be at the final table. (8 tables of 8 players each)
I have a set finish time which must be met.
So what i would like to do is to give the final table a good game without making it into a shove or fold situation

Any ideas?
thanks in advance

General Discussion / Shoot out competition
« on: June 19, 2011, 05:51:32 AM »
Thinking about running a Shoot Out Bounty tournament.

Would be a max of 64 players on 8 tables. Playing down to 2 players per table,  (then the remaining two players from each table will be reseated on the 2 final tables,  the chips that they take to the final 2 tables  will be what there stack was when the table they were on finished )  this would leave 16 players on 2 tables. This would then play down as an ordinary tournament, with the top 8 players getting paid. Bounties will run through the tournament until there is only one winner.

A couple of problems that i can forsee.

Some table will take longer to finish than others. so I was thinking.

Do the blinds still go up? Or do i keep the blinds the same as the time that the first table get finished?  And if so, once the last 16 players are finalised, would it be best to reset the levels to what the levels were when the first table finished?

What happens if instead of 64 i was short of players to make full tables? The total chips on each table would have to be  the same. DO i share the chips out among the number of players or do I put the chips in an empty seat and have them blinded out?

I would like to hear from anyone who has run a shoot out before and what if any problems arose.  See the problems that i have highlighted and what they would do to forestall any problems that may come up.

Or can you see any other problems that may arise from running this type of tournament?

Help Me / Displaying Points
« on: May 06, 2011, 04:17:54 AM »
I know that you can, as i do. Display the  points that are awarded during a current match, on the rankings screen
Would it be possible to  create a screen and display  on it, the running points totals of the current season of a league.

cheers Jim

Help Me / Points for Hits
« on: May 04, 2011, 07:59:20 AM »
If you run a tournament where  each player get points for every player that they eliminate. Does the winner get awarded the points that would have been on his head?
I know that in a bounty / head hunter -  the player would keep his own bounty.
Would it be possible to do it in such away, so that the winning players points could be added to his final score in a game.

The idea behind this is to award a prize for the player who gets the most hits over the length of a league.

Templates, Layouts and Sounds / Hidden Buttons
« on: April 28, 2011, 04:29:29 PM »
A couple of months ago TIMMER posted a layout with Hidden Buttons. Its a great design.

So that for example; if you click on a hidden cell in the tournament layout screen. The Add Players to the tournament button will appear.
and if you click when your mouse is over the players cell  the Players Rankings page will pop up etc

What i would like to know is, would it be possible to put a tool-tip on the buttons as well. so that when you hover over a cell with a hidden button. A box will appear which will display in a message what the function of the hidden button is.
I Hope i have described what i want correctly.

cheers

I have a tournament layout and when i load it there is a blank screen
It reads. "THE ACTIVE SCREENSET (RULES) HAS NO SCREENS DEFINED" .
I just  press the F2 key and this takes me to the layout tab from there everything works OK. But I don't understand what this means. Any clues?
This is on the new beta version, but it was there before i downloaded the beta Version.

Suggestions / Seating Chart
« on: April 27, 2011, 05:52:50 AM »
Just an idea.

On the seating chart. When the names are displayed in List Format. The way  at the minute is that the list is displayed in Alphabetical order. Would it be possible to get it to display so by table, then seat, then Name

ie. Table , Seat ,  Player
       1,        1,      A smith
       1,        2,      B Smith

cheers

Help Me / Displaying the Average M in a tournament
« on: April 20, 2011, 09:02:37 AM »
I would like to display the average M of the average stack in a competition. Below is a description of what M is. Is it possible to display the results of a calculation like this

Calculating MZone Ratio
MZone is a way of calculating how many rounds of poker a player can play, before becoming short stacked as the blind levels increase , and is then blinded out.
To Calculate the MZone, use the following formulae
M=(s/(sb+bb)+a*p))
M = MZone ratio: The amount of rounds a player can survive until they are blinded out.
S   = the players chips stack
SB = the amount of the small blind.
BB = the amount of the big blind
A   = The cost of the antes
P   = the number of players at the table.
Adjust this figure according to the number of players at the table.
So if a player has a stack of       100000 chips.
The current small blind is        500 chips
The current Big Blind is       1000 chips
The antes are         150 chips
The formulae would be:
100000/((500+1000)+9*150)

This gives the player an MZone of 35. Which means that: in every round of the game it will cost them 2350 chips. This player can only survive for 35 more rounds of poker before they will be blinded out of the game.

Help Me / Get rid of old files
« on: April 13, 2011, 10:54:49 AM »
In the process of learning TD i have a lot of files of dummy tournaments. How do i get rid of them?
The real tournaments all have distinct names such as "Top Club Season 1 leg 1" Is there anything to look out for when i delete the unwanted files. Also are they only stored in the folder in the my documents or are there copes in other folders that would need to be deleted too.

Help Me / Team Game Query
« on: March 21, 2011, 09:48:28 AM »
Heres a question for you. Would it be possible to run a team poker game on Tournament Director?

Scenario. Team Game.

16 teams of 5 players each. 80 players in total.

Prize pool will be split into 2 parts with:

  • 50% for individual prizes (pays 8 place)
  • 50% going to the winning team

The final 40 players will be awarded points for their individual finishing position, your  score increase by 1 point.  So that eventually 1st place will get 40 points.

The prize pool would be easy to do. Just adding a manual prize for the team game. (The prize pool is known in advance).

Awarding the points would be easy. Just the basic formula.

But its adding the points for each team together that i think would be a problem. To be honest i have no idea of where or how to start.

What i would like to do is to be able to display (in real time) the running totals (on a separate screen), for all  the different teams as and when the points are awarded.

So that all the players would be able to see the running scores, of all the teams

On the screen would be displayed. A separate box for each team, which would  include,The names, position finished and the points that each player in that team has  earned (if any).

But also displayed on the screen would be a list of what points are still to win.

I have thought about  making 16 new leagues: Calling each league:- Team A, Team B, Team C and so on.

And then adding the players and calling them (using the "nicknames" on the database tab )

Team A John      Team B Spike      Team C Phil
Team A Fred      Team B Lee      Team C Danny
Team A Dave      Team B Martin      Team C Donny
Team A Mike      Team B carol      Team C Ronny
Team A Kath      Team B Martin      Team C Billy

Do you think this would be possible to do? And if it could, could you point me  in the right direction, give me some ideas of how or even if this can be done.

Any comments or suggestions both good or bad would be very welcome.

Thanks in Advance.
