Help Me / V2.5 stats
« on: March 23, 2008, 11:40:48 PM »
Corey,

When I change the column names in the stats, it will not save the changes so every time I reload the program, it defaults back to the standard names.  The previous version seemed to have kept the changes to column names.  Not a huge deal obviously, but thought I should mention it.

Help Me / Bounty questions
« on: January 16, 2008, 02:50:29 PM »
I'm running a tournament for a friend in a couple of weeks and have been playing around with bounties, but I can't seem to make it work the way that I want it to.

Basically, it's a $60 buy-in tournament plus a $10 bounty fee.  It's a benefit event, so 1/2 of everything collected will be raked so I set it up with a $30 rake for the buy-in and $5 rake for the bounty fee.  The remaining $30 of the buy-in will go into the prize pool and the $5 left from the bounty fee will be going into what I would call the "bounty pool".

The benefit is for a kids baseball team and they are going to have some pro-sports celebrities there.  They want to make it so if a player knocks out one of the celebrities or one of the coaches, then they will get paid a bonus prize.  The bonus prize will be whatever the "bounty pool" is divided by the total # of celebs & coaches.  I tried messing around with fixed bounties, but then it pulls that money for the main prize pool and nothing gets pulled from the bounty pool.

Any suggestions?

Help Me / Formula error
« on: December 04, 2007, 09:20:26 PM »
I'm not sure what is happening, but I tested this previously, and it seemed to work perfectly, but now I'm getting a Formula Error.  Corey, I think you were to one who suggested these formulas.

I need one that will give me the total of the top 7 of 8 scores, but only if you play 3 or more tournaments.
I need a second one that will give me the total of the 6 lowest scores, but only if you play 7 or more tournaments.

Here's what I have.

Help Me / Bug on stats with 2.4.2?
« on: October 01, 2007, 06:26:52 PM »
I ran the stats on a tournament that I held on 9-21 today with 2.4.2 and it comes up blank.  The stats worked just fine on 2.4.1.  I even tried opening it and doing a new save on it.

Here's the screen I get when I hit the info button and then click on the 1 tourney that was filtered.  As you can see, it looks like everything it being filtered correctly but the players.

Help Me / ID Sorting
« on: September 25, 2007, 12:06:48 PM »
Because of the huge response that I have been getting on my tournaments and the limited seating, I give out seats based on a couple of different factors.

First seats go to players who have played in events this year up until 1 week prior to an event.
Secondly, to players who played last year.
Lastly to new players who have not played at my events before.

Each category above is first come, first served based on when they sign up.  I am using the ID field to track dates when they signed up and when they played with me before, but when I click on the column header, I have no idea what it's using to sort that column because it seems to just jumble everything around.  Attached is a screen shot of the sorting.

Help Me / Table movement
« on: July 11, 2007, 01:18:14 PM »
On the screen that pops up for player movement, is there any way to left justify the seat #.  I always had problems with people figuring out where they are supposed to move to because the old seat # and the new table # are right next to each other.

Help Me / Points/payout formulas - May need a genious for this one
« on: July 10, 2007, 01:07:47 PM »
okay, I know one of you smart individuals will figure this one out for me.  It is a 2 part question, one for payouts and one for points.

for the tournament that I ran for 2 years and will probably start doing again in a few months will have anywhere from 45 to 65 players each month and the season will run for 12 months with a EOY championship at the end of the 12 months.

These are the payouts that I used, but I had to save each of the groups of payouts as a separate prize template, but I know there must be an easier way, even if it involves a bunch of IF statements,

There will be 1 position paid for every 6 players per the table below.

42-47 players – 7th-$50 6th-6% 5th-8% 4th-10% 3rd-16% 2nd-20% 1st-40%
48-53 players – 8th-$50 7th-4% 6th-6% 5th-8% 4th-10% 3rd-12% 2nd-20% 1st-40%
54-59 players – 9th-$50 8th-3% 7th-4% 6th-6% 5th-8% 4th-9% 3rd-12% 2nd-20% 1st-38%
60-65 players – 10th-$50 9th-3% 8th-4% 7th-5% 6th-6% 5th-7% 4th-9% 3rd-11% 2nd-18% 1st-37%

So see if you can create a formula for this.

Second is the points structure.  I want there to be more points available depending on how many players play in the tournament.  Again, I had to save a different template for each one of different levels on #'s of players.

60-65 players
1st – 46 2nd – 38 3rd – 32 4th – 27 5th – 23 6th – 20 7th – 18 8th – 16 9th – 14 10th – 12 11th – 10 12th-17th – 9
18th-23rd – 8 24th-29th – 7 30th-35th – 6 36th-41st – 5 42nd-47th – 4 48th-53rd – 3 54th-59th – 2 60th-65th – 1

54-59 players
1st – 44 2nd – 36 3rd – 30 4th – 25 5th – 21 6th – 18 7th – 16 8th – 14 9th – 12 10th – 10 11th – 9 12th-17th – 8
18th-23rd – 7 24th-29th – 6 30th-35th – 5 36th-41st – 4 42nd-47th – 3 48th-53rd – 2 54th-59th – 1

48-53 players
1st – 40 2nd – 32 3rd – 26 4th – 21 5th – 17 6th – 14 7th – 12 8th – 10 9th – 9 10th – 8 11th-17th – 7 18th-23rd – 6
24th-29th – 5 30th-35th – 4 36th-41st – 3 42nd-47th – 2 48th-53rd – 1

42-47 players
1st – 36 2nd – 28 3rd – 22 4th – 17 5th – 13 6th – 10 7th – 9 8th-9th – 8 10th-11th – 7 12th-17th – 6 18th-23rd – 5
24th-29th – 4 30th-35th – 3 36th-41st – 2 42nd-47th – 1

Now, the points do not have to exactly match these tables, but I'm sure you get the gist that the more players there are, the more points you can get for finishing higher.  If I were able to automate it all in a formula without having to switch around templates every time I get to another break level, that would sure make my life easier.

The final thing, and this has to do with new overall scoring system, is that rather than taking all 12 scores and adding them up to come up with the final points standing for the season, I am thinking of taking the top 9 or 10 scores for the year so that the regular players won't get penalized for missing a couple of months or just plain having a couple of bad months.  Is it possible to write a formula for this as well?

Suggestions / Stats and tables
« on: September 23, 2006, 08:47:55 PM »
Corey, you just never seem to stop amazing me with this software.  Everyone that comes to my tournaments are totally impressed with the capabilities and are shocked at the price.

For some reason, I seem to be the only one who keeps coming up with issues on using negative points and/or $'s. I love in the stats the income button, but when I plug in negative points or $'s, it doesn't show where those negative points come from like all of the positive #'s.  The totals on the stats page are working correctly now of course.

I like the new table layout printing option that shows the names in alphabetical order and I used it last night for my tourney.  The old layout made it difficult for people to find where they were sitting, but now people kept wondering who else at the table they were sitting with(they are never completely happy).  I don't want to have to print out two lists for every table since I have 6 tables and I usually print out one list per table.  What would be really cool is to have all the players at a certain table be highlighted or bolded or something.  I.e. you allow the option of printing the seating assignments, but then ask which table # you would like highlighted.  It would then also print that table # at the top as a header so when you set the list on each table, the players know exactly which table they are going to and can then quickly glance down the list and see the highlighted names of who is sitting at that table.

Thanks again for the software

Help Me / Points only bounties
« on: July 22, 2006, 04:40:57 PM »
I searched through all the posts with the word "bount" in it and I didn't come across this question, so I'm sorry if it may have already been addressed.

In our tournament, the winner from the previous tournament (or 2nd place, 3rd place, etc. in case 1st place doesn't show up) has a bounty placed on him that is worth 5 points.  There is no money involved in the bounty and only that one player is worth anything.

I have a prize set up for awarding the 5 points and that is working great.

What I am trying to figure out, if it's possible, is to track the # of bounties that are won on the stats and on the regular monthly results.  I tried messing around with bounty chips, but it they don't have a $ value, they don't show up.

Points are awarded based on the player's finishing position, # of hits, # of buy-ins and by knocking out the bounty player.  The question always seem to come up as to why someone has more points than what can be calculated by the fields that I do show and inevitably, it is always the bounties.

Any ideas out there?

Help Me / Auto Movement of players
« on: March 20, 2006, 09:16:23 PM »
I have run the new software for the last 2 months and something really strange is happening.  The player that is originally seated at table 1, seat 1 gets moved several times during the tournament and always ends up being moved to the #1 spot at another table if that spot is empty.  Actually, I think that if the number 1 spot empties at any table, the original 1-1 player will get moved and maybe even if the tables are still in balance.  It's that noticeable.  In Feb., the 1-1 position was moved at least 3 times and in my Mar. tourney, about the same and each time into another #1 spot.

My players will deal from the 1 spot until they get moved, but it really sucks to have them getting moved to another dealer spot every time and also having to move so many times when I know the software is supposed to not move players that have already been moved unless a table breaks down.  I also don't want to lock a player in the dealers spot either.

After Feb., I turned off the "When moving players, seat players as close to seat 1 as possible" thinking that this setting may have had something to do with it, but March resulted in the same thing.  I am taking the dealer button designator off for the April tourney to see if that helps, but I was wondering if anyone has experienced this and has a solution.

Thanks
