Help Me / Re: 50 man tournament
« on: February 20, 2010, 10:08:40 PM »
agro,

What is the starting stack as this will be fundanmental to your structure...

If you are starting at 25/25 i'd be looking for a tourney with a starting stack of around 3,000 chips (120bb) whereas 5,000 or more would usually start at 25/50 given your time constraints,  given that you want it finished in 5 hours I think antes will be essential but this all hinges on your starting stack.

An important thing to consider is how deep you want it, if you are having a deep/super/mega stack then you are going to need aggressive blinds that will create an 'elastic band' effect - for example if you look at your tourney the average stack at the half way point will likely be short stacked, whereas if you run a 'deep structure' with a smaller starting stack you could theoretically have poker played all the way through, however many non-discerning players will not realise it and will complain that they have no chips to play with but in reality the deep stack is actually worse.  But then with a deep stack players are going to realise when they get deeper into the tourney that the structure flawed given the time limits.

For a 25/50 start with rebuys I don't think you can realistic-lay start with any more than 4,000 chips in order to avoid the blinds shooting up that quick that the button does not get one orbit in during each level

for a 25/25 start with rebuys i'd be looking at 2,000 chips prob.

See the thread about structures by Matt Savage on the Poker Tournament Director's Association Discussion Forum:

Templates, Layouts and Sounds / Re: Blind Change Sounds

paul

I am not sure what you are trying to achieve perhaps we could ask for some clarification

For example, the banjo sounds at 5secs before level end and when the new level commences the TD plays the new blind level on my software.

Is this along the lines of what you are trying to achieve?

I can certainly e-mail you the events files I have and you can copy them to match your needs if that helps?

Help Me / Re: Issue with export to homepokertour.com
« on: February 15, 2010, 06:11:27 AM »
Sounds like an issue with homepokertour.com rather than the TD.  I use statsgenie.com and don't have any problems with uploading add-on and/or re-buy tourneys.

Beta Testing / Re: Version 2.6 alpha 1
« on: February 13, 2010, 11:46:09 AM »
if you already have a licence key for the product you can use it on the 2.6a version the licence terms provide an allowance for you to have the software on more than one computer, provided you do not run simultaneous tournaments on different computers

(3) If your evaluation period has expired, press the "Enter License Key" button on the "About" dialog.  Enter your User ID and License Key exactly as it appears above.  Use the Windows copy and paste features to ensure it is entered correctly.  Press the "OK" button and your copy will now be registered.

Help Me / Re: Script Debugging Error

Yeh get a debugging error practically every game I run, which freezes the tournament until i select yes or no, i usually hit no but do get it popping up even two or three times in a tourney.  says something along the lines of "do you wish to continue running scripts on this page?"

Would be interesting to find out what it is and if it can be sorted out.

I'm running vista.

Help Me / Re: Multiple LCD Screens Displaying TD Clock via HDMI
« on: January 30, 2010, 11:25:31 AM »
Thanks for the help got a HDMI 1-4 splitter off Ebay for £55! happy days, works a treat and can be piggy backed also.  longest lead on the line is 15m with no problems for carrying the sound and display to all the different brand of LCD's and plasmas.

Help Me / Re: Being late ( blinded or not )
« on: January 23, 2010, 08:18:07 AM »
Timmer,  as a qualified TD I have various house rules in force depending on the game type and structure.  Most of my small games allow late arrival with registration.  If you are allowing late registration it is normal practice not to blind off from starting stacks however if you only allow "late arrival" (notified before commencment of game) it is normal practice to put the stack out and blind it off.  It is a good idea to have a house rule in force with what type of late you allow and also how late you can be for example I usually allow late registration upto the end of the second blind level and late arrival upto the end of the third blind level.

Not everyone is able to make the appointed time of registration so it is always a good idea to have some flexibility in your game entry, however you should always cover it in your house rules.

Best Regards

Suggestions / Re: Restart
« on: January 18, 2010, 06:16:04 AM »
Jody,

You can already restart the tournament using the RESET button below SAVE AS button.  This allows you to choose whether you want to keep player buy-ins or clear buy-ins.

Help Me / Multiple LCD Screens Displaying TD Clock via HDMI
« on: January 17, 2010, 03:36:39 PM »
Hi all,

I've got a big tourney coming up which will be in four different rooms!  I already have ran successfully 2 screens using an HDMI splitter and leads, and have enough leads and splitters for the next one, but this does not work when I connect all the cables up it's seems as if the signal degrades.

I have had a look on Ebay and it's looks like I need to buy some repeaters for the cables, to stop signal degredation, but I can find no definative descriptions that match my requirements, the best I can find is a splitter for one output to two inputs, but I will have 4 or 5 LCD's running the TD clock with sound.

Anyone who can help?

Regards
Stuart

Help Me / Re: Concerns with using TD on plasmas?

after reading the review I think the problem was massive contrast on the screen (white background and the nuts poker league logo)
