Help Me / Re: my load button stopped working
« on: October 06, 2013, 05:13:39 AM »
Has anyone found a solid solution to the load button not working.  It is not working for my system also.  I am running Win 7 pro 64 bit with all the latest system updates.
I uninstalled it and re-installed latest version of TD, but same issues on this system.
Also when I start the program it wants admin system rights when starting.. i.e. screen dims and asks permission prior to starting this app.

I am also running the latest version on my laptop too, which works there (windows xp pro all system updates) but also have issues:

Update issue - when I updated my version from 2.5 to 3.2 I have been getting some errors when clicking on the load button:

Windows - No Disk
Exception Processing Message c0000013 Parameters 75b6f7c 4 75b6f7c  75b6f7c with the option of Cancel, Try Again, Continue

... so I cancel twice, then it is fine (the cancel is the only button out of the three that works
Not sure what is causing this but it is another issue that normally does not happen.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Hey Stuart,

Thanks, I found it and gave it a quick try.... worked, now just going to try and match the button with the ones already there.  I will take a screen shot and then crop one of the larger buttons, then change the lettering... should do the trick, then I'll test her out.
Thanks for patiently explaining what I was missing.. now I got it :-)

Thanks Stuart for the advice, but as I was saying in the previous message (see attached image in my previous message), all the tokens are alpha, and I took an image shot of my selections... no handtimer token there.

I don't know of it being deleted, but anything is possible. It seems if I want access the handtimer to make a button, I need this token.  There must be something that I can do?

Does anyone know how I can get this handtimer file/token to put in, and where exactly I would put this file/token so that it shows up in this insert list, for using?

Help Me / Hand timmer button on main page

I am not up fully on how to program custom events and I am interested in (Using TD ver: 2.5.10) adding/ creating a hand timer button along with a bunch that came with a template that I am using.  Every so often we have a player that takes forever and because I use a touch sensitive screen (screen shot attached), I would like to make up an event and button to start the hand timer for 1 minute.

I tried finding something related to this, with no luck unless I was just using the wrong search terms, found some code/event for last buy-in, but not this :-(

I know I can access this hand timer in the controls tab, but it would make a lot more sense if I can do this right on the main screen, buy just adding another button, so that when it is pressed, the hand timer clock window would pop up showing the hand timer counting down from a minute.

Once I have the event properly made, set actions to play a sound at the start like "you have one minute to decide on your move!"  and then another event say 15 seconds, to say "You now have 15 seconds left to make a decision", and then one last warning "Time is up, you fold!"

Right now my button control code is as follows:
<nobr>
<tdbutton type="previousround" text="Round -" inheritFont="true">
&nbsp;
<tdbutton type="nextround" text="Round +" inheritFont="true">
&nbsp;
<tdbutton type="addplayers" text="+ Player" inheritFont="true">
&nbsp;
<tdbutton type="buyin" text="Buy-in" inheritFont="true">
&nbsp;
<tdbutton type="bustout" text="Bust Out" inheritFont="true">
&nbsp;
<tdbutton type="rebuy" text="Rebuy" inheritFont="true">
&nbsp;
<tdbutton type="addon" text="Add-on" inheritFont="true">
&nbsp;
<tdbutton type="clock" text="Pause" inheritFont="true">

Thanks to members and Corey Copper, this has been a great program.  Any help on this would be great.

Thanks Hally,
Yeah, it took a while.  Got a lot done in about three weeks, then added/modified after.  Our poker club wants to play always at my place now.  The built-in auto shuffler works great and speeds up the game also.

Corey,

All is good, you were right.  I removed the background image and now it looks like it will work perfect.
Doing this for the first time I thought that because it was a field that need to be filled in, it made sense to put it in there.

Now it all makes sense, because the xml file already is addressing the image from within the programming code and doesn't need a second background image.
I like the fact that this program allows for customization.  A little work and support and the program looks great.
If you are interested in the table build, which includes a touch screen monitor, flush-mount shuffler, plus some other goodies you can check out my pics here:

Thanks Hally for going to the trouble of modifying the xml file to work with the larger table image.

Bottom line, it looks great, names nicely placed in relation to the cup holders

Thanks Corey for responding- Great software, anyway.... have a tournament coming up this Saturday, so I hope we can figure this thing out before.

I have attached a screen shot from my desktop, but I actually use a laptop because I use a touch screen monitor in the center of the table, but it happens on both computers (same version of software) which is strange, only on the laptop the two overlap each other half way as it is a smaller screen resolution I guess.

I included in the screen shot showing part of what the table is showing and my settings window.  Maybe there is something I am missing.
I am running version 2.5.10

Thanks for your help in advance.

Hally,
Thanks so much for doing this.  I took your psd file and enlarged it to the 770 * 350 pixels, after adding some of my own touch-ups.  I used your recent xml file for the large 10 person table and then made the changes to the seating options as you suggested.  Everything works great except for one issue:

It seems to render the table image in the centre of the screen with no names, then after a split second it then renders a second table overlapping the first one above it towards the top.  I tried this on a bigger screen and it was still doing it, except on the bigger screen it was overlapping further apart.

Do you have any idea what this might be?   ...anyone?

By the way, how did you make that xml file, just curious?

I have attached the gif and the xml files that I am using.

Help Me / Re: Monitor in middle of poker table question.
« on: August 04, 2009, 11:24:04 PM »
I was chatting with another guy Jason over at Instructables: http://www.instructables.com/member/je1330/ who is the only one I know who has put a monitor in the center of the poker table successfully and created an online tutorial to share with everyone.  He ended up having to make another one as it was a great idea.  He thought it would be a great idea, and so I am going to try it.  If this catches, maybe Tournament Director will look at it's use during the game with this idea kept in mind.

Using the customization screen you can get a nice 4 directional timer/information screen that everyone can see.  I was talking to a 3M techie today and they are working very close with Windows 7 and also have a developers kit for application software developers.  I can see the possibility of touch screens getting very popular, especially with Windows 7 supporting it directly.  There will be a need for the key board is in select situations, but for basic display of information and control during game play, it looks like it will work well from what I can see.

It is nice to hear some input, but I thought there would be more interest in this, as I think this is an awesome addition to a poker table, even if it is a regular monitor (cheaper).  As far as the keyboard and mouse are concerned, if you have blue tooth, then a key board can also be easily used say under the table with a slide out tray - if really needed.  I plan to use my old lap top for now with an extended video cable.

First of all, there are two types of touch screens out there: Capacitive and Resistive.
The Capacitive works on the actual electricity in your finger, so a poker chip or a card will not actually set it off, but your hand will.
http://www.tvielectronics.com/Touch_Screen.html

The touch screen I was looking at is 1024 X 768 capacitive.  Incidentally, capacitive screens have a better light/screen passing through, and a 75 degree viewing angle from straight on view from vertical and horizontal. Only thing though is it's going to cost about $500, as opposed to a regular monitor which is probably a little over 1/5th the price.

Anyway, the touch screen will only work if it is set up with the usb cable attached also to the computer... and with the software that allows it to work with the application and the operating system, similar to a PDA, you can "lock" everything, i.e. temporarily turn the touch screen sensors off, or ignore any touch commands.

Recently found this excellent tutorial:
http://www.instructables.com/id/Put-an-LCD-in-your-Poker-Table/
on putting a monitor into the middle of the table, and using Tournament Director with some customization to come up with a great practical center piece for tracking and displaying time, chip count, etc. while playing.
My question is
I am building a table right now and I am wondering if it is worth while to spend extra to put say  a 15 LCD touch screen in the center
(3M™ MicroTouch™ Display C1500SS Enclosure Monitor)  http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3M/en_US/3MTouchSystems/TS/Solutions/TouchMonitors/C1500SS/
as opposed to a regular screen.  I am thinking in conjunction with Windows 7, Tournament Director, and actual practical usage during a game.

I know there are issues with accidental touching of the screen, but I am sure that is just a software mod that implemented to prevent accidents - there always is something put into place just in case.

Anyway, any further insight into this issue would be great, as I am not an experienced user of the software yet.

Bottom line, based on software and program experience, would this be a great idea and your reasons why?
