Help Me / Re: Some strange behavior

Hooray!  It seems to be working.  I reconfigured the settings, and they are not changing when I export.

Corey, thanks again for your help with this.  TD continues to be a great product, and I wouldn't think of using anything else for my tournaments.

Many thanks!

Wow, that was fast...

I'm glad the video was able to help.  I'm amazed, though, that no one caught it before I did.  I guess not too many people are exporting html.

Anyway, glad to help in a small way, and thanks for all of your help with this.

Yes, I think I can do that.

I have some time off coming up after tomorrow, so I'll record it and send it to you then.

Help Me / Some strange behavior
« on: March 31, 2015, 07:07:11 PM »
I recently used a couple of features that I hadn't used in a few months, and when I started to use them again, I noticed some strange things.

First off, I tried to export html from the Game tab and found that my default Tournament Export file had changed back to the program supplied one. (I made my own file so that it would render html on our league website; I had been using this file successfully for a several years).  I went back to the Preferences tab and reset it to the file that I wanted, but when I went to another tab in the program, sure enough, it reset itself again.  Bottom line: the Default that I set it to doesn't stay set.

Now here's where it gets really weird:  I also discovered that, again when exporting html, as soon as I press the Save button, for some unexplained reason, the screen transitions engage themselves.  Again, I had previously disabled them, but now the screens were transitioning.  I went back and disabled them again, repeated the process, and they enabled themselves once again.

So, has anyone else experienced this?  If so, any solutions?

You are correct, sir.  I sometimes use a secondary display, depending on where we are playing, as we are a touring league.  Your fix did the trick.

Thanks, as always, for the support!

I just began to notice that some of my buttons don't work, and cause TD to freeze on the Settings screen.  When I push particular buttons, it causes this behavior.  I can only escape by using the Windows task bar to close the program.  Interestingly enough, I can still run a tournament (I usually will copy a previous tournament, then reset it); it seems to be buttons involved with set-up things.

I went through the entire program to find the offending buttons, and here is a list of what freezes TD up:

Game Tab:  Quick start, Fixed Rake
Rounds Tab:  New Round, New Break
Prizes Tab:  New Prize, Sort Prizes, Chops, New, Export
Tables Tab:  New, Export
Layout Tab:  Layout Controls: Clear, New, Built-in, Import/Export, Settings Screen Controls: ALL  Other: Alerts
Events Tab:  New Sound, Import Sound, New Event, Sort Sounds, Sort Events, New
Chips Tab:  New Chip, New Chipset, New
Rules Tab:  New
Database Tab:  Find Player, Delete Players, New League, Edit Seasons, Restore
Stats Tab:  View
Preferences Tab:  Reset, Status Message, Category, Rakes, New Rake
Hotkeys Tab:  Reset Hotkeys

It's possible I might have even missed some, but this is what I came across so far.

I checked the other thread about the other major problem that was occurring earlier last year and applied the fixes as suggested, and I also have Auto Update enabled.

Anyone come across this before that might be able to help?

Why, yes, I can...

Note that the text that I have in red should be substituted with the location and file name of the logo that you will be using; that is, if you are using one.  Otherwise, nothing will show up.

I would also suggest locating this receipt file in the same location ("Templates") as the original one, but give it a different name.  This way when you go in the Preferences tab to choose it, it will be easier to find.

General Discussion / Re: A new barcode+thermal printer thread.
« on: March 12, 2015, 07:54:39 PM »
Thought that I would add my own experience in this area...

I had been using the receipts features for several years now.  I had been using a conventional inkjet printer (an inexpensive HP that I got at Target for about $30 at the time) to print out receipt cards.  This method served me well, but I suppose the drawback was that I needed to replace the ink cartridges after a time, and that would get expensive.

I found this thread recently, and when my ink ran out yet again, I finally decided to go the thermal route.  I know the other posters here use the Epson TM-T20II, which is a great printer, but I found an inexpensive generic-type printer on Amazon for $35 with free shipping, which is probably less than I would have paid for the ink on the other printer (you might even be able to get the same printer on Ebay for less).  The receipts it prints are smaller in width than what the Epson prints, at 2 1/4 inches, but it's adequate for what I'm using them for.  I used the included receipt template and modified it slightly.

I already use a barcode scanner, and I give my members cards with a barcode on the back that I scan (the Gold cards are for charter members; the blue for everyone else).  The printer then prints the receipts with the table and seat info, and we're good to go.

As the OP mentioned, if you are on the fence regarding instituting this type of setup for your game, you should indeed go for it; even if you don't want to go the barcode scanner route, just having the printer with the table and seat info is helpful by eliminating the "What table am I at?" questions.

Help Me / Re: my load button stopped working
« on: July 13, 2013, 10:39:58 AM »
OK, I have an update:

Well, Corey, add my name to the list...

Yesterday, with some time on my hands, I decided that I would try and download IE10 again, just to see if anything had changed.  Much to my surprise, TD now works properly using IE10; namely, the "Load", "Save", and "Save as..." buttons are all working.  Whether it was an update by you or IE, I don't know, but I thought I would just report that all is well.  Perhaps anyone of the handful of people who were having issues with IE10 in the past might wish to try updating again to see if it now works for you, too.

As a side note, the other thing that I had noticed is that my receipts were rendered differently when I used IE10.  I'm guessing that during the update the source file now reads the code differently (I have a couple of cells that use rotated text); perhaps the code that I used is now outdated under IE10, and I would need to figure out how to change it so that it will render the way I want it to.

I figured this one out, too.  I initially found that if I changed IE10 to "Compatibility Mode", my receipts would render correctly.  The only problem with this was that now some newer websites that I visited would be rendered incorrectly.  A better solution was to add a line of code to my receipts template, as you first suggested, Corey.

Here is the line that I added to the Head section of the template:  <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=EmulateIE9" >

I know that there might not be too many people having this problem, if any, but just thought that I would share, just in case.

One other problem that I have noted, and I'm not certain it's related, is that the tournament that I just ran did not accurately track bounties correctly.  For example, many players were credited with keeping their bounties, when in fact their bounties were collected by various hitmen.

Could it be that a setting was changed here?

OK, I just downloaded beta 4, and now bounties are correctly awarded.  I forgot to take into account that because the standings were reversed, the bounties couldn't be correctly assigned, so this is now a non-issue.

Thanks, Corey, for your usual quick response to our problems.  As always, the support that you provide is incredible, to say the least.

Re-installing the beta APPEARS to solve the errors I observed.

Is there a place where I can download this?  It appears to have been removed.

Heck, at this point, I would be happy to have 3.1.1

You are not alone!

I just ran a tournament this evening, and as I was busting players out, the first player busted was moving up, so all of the rankings were reversed (last player out was displayed as having finished last; only the winner was correct).

Also, I noticed that the info on the Players tab was not displaying correctly.  The name was correct, but under the nickname column was the players' email addresses; ID column showed phone numbers.  All other columns that I configued (status, notes, paid, bounty chip, rebuys, hitman, rank, bounties won, total cost, total winnings and points) were blank.

One other thing:  my season rankings are also not displaying correctly, either.  It seems all of the point totals are now messed up.

OK a small update...

I had some time today, so I thought I would try downloading IE10 again.  One thing that I noticed was that at the start of the download I was asked if I would like to download a version that included "Enhanced for AOL".  This had me thinking that perhaps this might be where the problem might reside.  I proceeded to download the enhanced version (which was the version that I had downloaded previously) just to see what happened.  As I expected, the result was the same as the last time, as I was again unable to use the "Load" or "Save" or "Save As..." buttons.  So, I went back and downdated to IE9, but this time I updated to IE10 without the enhancements, hoping that this time it would work.  Well, I'm afraid that the results were the same as with the AOL enhancements, so I'm guessing that the problem was not limited to those enhancements as I had hoped, but rather that there is a broader issue at hand here.

As a side note, the other thing that I had noticed is that my receipts were rendered differently when I used IE10.  I'm guessing that during the update the source file now reads the code differently (I have a couple of cells that use rotated text); perhaps the code that I used is now outdated under IE10, and I would need to figure out how to change it so that it will render the way I want it to (I know that TD is not responsible for any of this; I just thought that it might be useful to mention it just as a heads-up to others who might be interested in this.).
