something simple?

n-r+1

#pts = #people

10 people? 1st = 10, 2nd = 9, and so on down the line

Offer up .5pts for a hit, and -1pt per rebuy.

Simple, clean, keeps the point totals pretty tight throughout the season so everyone has a chance at the end.

If the tournament is listed as Incomplete, it's because there is still more than 1 player in the tournament.  If you load the tournament, the small clock in the upper-left corner of the screen should read "GAME OVER".  This indicates a complete tournament.

and make sure you SAVE after it's finished ;)

Help Me / Re: Hitmen when there are Rebuys
« on: October 24, 2006, 12:43:23 PM »
Understood.

But it brings me to a larger (TD-type) question: In the formula crediting process, I believe TD only credits points for a "knockout" (e.g. - only awards points if the player does not rebuy, or is beyond the buy-in period).

Is there a way - in a formula - to award points for both rebought and non-rebought "hits"?  And the stats reflecting ALL hits?

Well TD considers them ALL hits. When you hit 'X', select a hitman, then the option rebuy comes up.

Point being, a hit is a hit is a hit ;)

No - thats not how I do the rebuys.

I hit "V" and check the names of folks who did rebuys - trouble is you can only check them once per any "V" operation. I only do "X" when they are properly out and in those cases always answer no to rebuys

right, if you're not worried about who knocked who out, then that's fine....

so what it you can't "multiple rebuy" someone at once? they're not "rebuying" multiple times at once.... just hit V every time they bust out, it'll keep track of number of rebuys....

you can't "rebuy" multiple times at once.... if you're talking add-ons, you could just add-on multiple times..... a hell of alot easier than writing it all down then doing it at the end.... why not use the program to do it for you during play?

as for #2, you have so many rebuys that just hitting 'x', clicking on the knocked out player and the one who knocked them out, and answering 'yes' to the rebuy question take stoo long?

 :-\

God, I'd NEVER write it doen on paper, echhh.....

You DO sit yourself next to the computer, right? ;)

Suggestions / Seating/Buy-In Suggestion
« on: October 18, 2006, 10:54:37 AM »
Not positive if this has been suggested before (if it has, my bad) but....

It's a pain to have to 'buy in' players in order to seat them. I know you can adjust the 'paid in full' checkbox after they've paid, etc.... but going back to every screen is somewhat of an annoyance.

I like to have the seats all set up in advance before players get there (I usually have about 20 guys) with index cards marking where they'll be sitting. This saves time and confusion and allows the tournament to start ASAP.

Also, modifying the 'buy-ins' in case someone cancels, and then removing them from their seat, just a pain.

I'd like to be able to 'seat players', every one of them ahead of time WITHOUT buying them in, and then when they show up, check off if they've bought in or not, and if not, THEN I can manually remove them from their seats.

Lately I've been buying in all the players ahead of time, seating them, and when people show up, I just count the cash then compare it to the buyins and make sure we're all square. No biggie, but avoidable...

Suggestions / Re: Points Awarded
« on: October 18, 2006, 10:48:18 AM »
Yes I want to award points to all players who participate. and more points for place as in 25th place 20 points and 24th place 25 points etc....

you'd have to rig the points awarded formula... in the 'points for playing'

n-r+1 sets up the points in a ladder

ex. 20 people, 1st = 20, 2nd = 19,........... 19th = 2, 20 = 1pt. (so everyone gets at least 1pt)

As for spacing it so there's 5 points difference for position... I dunno.

Honestly though, how come?

people come up with wayyyyy to complicated formulas  :P

I find that n-r+1 keeps the league pretty close in points, and keeps it exciting. Even for the guys who may miss a week or two, they still have a shot @ top 10.

Add negative points (-2) for rebuys and points (1/2pt) for hits, and you're all set with an easy scoring format that everyone can follow :)

just my .02

what I'll do is at the end of the night, I'll pull up the stats page and refresh it to include the tournament played that night (make sure you've saved it already) and then anyone who is still around can see the stats paged, sorted in decending by points.

Before every weeks tournament, I export the stats to a CSV file, then bring it into Excel, print out the League Standings, etc... it's posted on the wall in my garage where we play.

Help Me / Point Bounty?
« on: August 25, 2006, 11:10:45 AM »
any way to set a bounty on specific players, and set it up so that if you bust one of them out, you get extra points for the hit?

My league would like to have a bounty of 3,2,1 on the previous weeks top 3, plus the half-point hit.

?

n-r+1

gives you points based on how many people are playng per week.

20 people, 1st = 20, 2nd = 19, etc....

Suggestions / Re: Automatic Chip distribution
« on: August 07, 2006, 12:01:20 PM »
Just my .02 here...

We run a T2000 tournament, blinds starting @ 25-50

Chip distribution =

12 Green (25)
12 Black (100)
1 Pink (500)

= 25 chips (2000)

Blind Schedule =

25/50
50/100
75/150

*chip up greens ---> blacks*

100/200
200/400
300/600
400/800
500/1000
600/1200
800/1600
1000/2000
1500/3000
2000/4000
2500/5000

with about 20 buy-ins, 10 rebuys (until they are cut-off @ the end of round 5), this usually makes for a approx. 4hr tournament... there is also antes starting in the 400/800 round (but I forget the exact amounts per round... it's roughly 1/4 the SB)

As far as the chip distribution goes, HomePokerTourney.com has a .pdf chip calculator, as well as blinds suggestions sheets....

Help Me / Re: prizes not configured
« on: August 06, 2006, 10:37:59 PM »
instead of having your points display as 'prizes', just check the stats tab after the tournament to see what everyone earned, as long as you have a correct point formula...
